Great. 26 April 2010
Format:Audio CD
Worth buying for the opening track Bellbottoms alone. The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion are a fantastic example of what happens when you start pushing the boundaries of rock 'n' roll. Most every track on this album is worthy of listening to. Sometimes the vocals hit bum notes and are a little unpalatable, but that's sort of the point. TJSBE are not supposed to be an easy listening group with mass appeal. If you're feeling a little adventurous you could do worse than trying out this album. For established fans who haven't yet picked up Orange, what are you doing?! BUY IT NOW! Widely acknowledged as one of their best releases you won't get much argument from me.

Blues - an old man sitting on the porch of his rickety house singing about how he got us this morning, had a bad day and now his baby has left him. Well that is one form of blues, the Blues Explosion is another. An apt name for a band who do almost explode into the music. Hip, loud and outrageously funky this album just screams "God Damn!" at you in a gospel stylee, but this is not the type of music you would hear in church. Its hard to explain in great detail how this all sounds, its not everyone's cup of tea. Pop into your local record store and ask for a listen, watch out for when it kicks in, it does so rather loudly. If you are still going after the first 30 seconds or so you have found yourself a great album, if however your ears are bleeding step away and try something else.

From the insane, string laced opener 'Bellbottoms' to the extremely bluesy and fantastic 'Blues X Man' this is quite possibly the best JSBX album I've heard, even better than ACME (and that was great). The best thing you could do to your stereo.
