Orange Stockholm is the Huawei U8160, the same model also sold as Vodafone Smart and T-mobile Rapport.

I largely agree with Arthur Dooley's review. I did substantial research before buying this phone. I wanted a budget smartphone with the flexibility of pay-as-you-go. However, I must admit that as a previous iphone user, I have found one characteristic of the Stockholm frustrating enough to be a deal-breaker: the snail-paced processor.

As Arthur mentions, the screen is small. This can be partially worked-around using alternative keyboard apps. I found the built-in screen rotating feature of the Stockholm unreliable. (It flips 90 degrees sometimes without you having tilted the phone.) The phone has several features appealing in a budget smartphone: wi-fi, GPS, Android, built-in radio.

But all of these nice features are overwhelmed by the very slow processor speed - indeed it makes using them require zen-level patience. Booting up the phone takes 4 minutes. More alarmingly, adding a contact can take over a minute of 'thinking'! At this point I am digging through my pockets for pen and paper. Part of the problem is that Orange pre-installs a host of software that you cannot delete. Switching from Orange's launcher app to a free alternative (such as LauncherPro) improves speed noticeably, as does frequently checking for extra processes and shutting them down.

But at the end of the day, I want a smartphone that works without constant monitoring and managing. I would encourage looking at other budget smartphones (perhaps from trusted brands) before purchasing Stockholm (or its equivalents on other networks).

This is my first smart phone and I expect that will apply to a lot of people who go on to buy this model. Other reviews describe it as an 'entry level' or 'ideal first smart phone' I suppose that is about right although it's fair to say, the Stockholm will do just about everything a more expensive Android phone will do for a lot less outlay.
First...lets get the negative aspects out of the way first because the positives easily outweigh the negatives. One big drawback for people who do a lot of texting is the small touch screen keypad. I don't have particularly big hands and fingers but typing can be a nightmare with constant deletions and corrections. This is related to the fact that the phone is one of the smallest smart phones around with quite a little screen. You can make things slightly easier by rotating the phone around.Like an iPhone it has an auto rotate screen so you can view vertically or horizontally.Having it horizontal does give you a bigger screen. Fot text freaks this is a possible deal breaker. The battery does run down quite quickly compared to non smart phones. Especially if you are running apps such as Sat-Nav or Endomondo exercise app. It can also take a while to power up on switch on...but that's it..Negs out of the way.
The positives...It's very cheap. There are some great deals on Amazon and elsewhere. The phone comes with a 2gb micro sd card for extra memory and ear phones. In fact the deal on my phone saw me also receive some nice A/C headphones..worth £60.00 apparently, a headphone splitter, cleaning cloth and a piggy bank!
The phone itself is loud and clear. The onboard apps included are useful. For example Facebook, Twitter and Gmail are all there. You just need to log in. The Google (Sat-Nav) Navigation app is brilliant! It's not a bells and whistles sat-nav like Tom-Tom or Garmin but it works just fine with loud and clear spoken directions. For those who run.cycle or walk then download the free app Endonmondo which is great for recording your activities. The camera is OK quality wise but in truth not that easy to use. It suffers delayed action which makes for camera shake and given it's touchscreen shutter button, it's not good compared to non smart phone cameras which have a nice button to press and a reassuring sound when activated.
I think most people buying this as a first smart phone will find it to their liking although they might like to upgrade to a better phone further on down the line. I would find a bigger screen and keypad desirable and may go for that option in the future. For now...it's just fine!

* Added a month later. Just to say that I can still happily recommend the Stockholm. The text problem I mentioned re the small screen has been rectified by downloading one of many keyboard apps. The best of which for me is 'messagEase'. A nine pad tap and drag keypad which makes writing or texting as easy as the qwerty keypad on my old Samsung phone. The on-board camera which I didn't like has again been rectified by downloading a brilliant camera app 'FX Camera' which offers various photographic modes..Lomo..Polaroid..fish-eye etc with loads of filter options. Both the above apps are free!
As reviewer Ben suggests. It is a bit on the slow side. I gather that Orange pad out these phones with their unremovable 'bloatware'. Games and stuff which most people won't use. I wouldn't say it's too bad if like me you only use it for things like FB,Twitter,Email etc.
I should have added that it does of course have a video and music facility but as I do not use a phone for recording or listening to music I can't comment on these elements.
