Memories 12 Jun 2004
Format:Hardcover
I first read this book as a young child.
I reciently had my hair don in a "funky" new style and thought imediatly of the "Big orange splot" I couldn't remember much about the story except "The Splot". A friend ordered the book for me and I read it only to have my love of this story come flooding back to me. I felt like a kid again. Now with much more apreciation of the message within.
I am now passing this story to my children 6, 4, and 1, and hopefully for many more generations to enjoy and value the story and become strong young people with a true sence of their own identity...
I LOVE THIS BOOK!

This book has been the basis for my life: "Everything I do is me and I am it, it's what I like to be, and I live like all my dreams." This book creates individuals.

Expands creativity 4 Mar 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
As a teacher of primary grade children, I have used this book time and again as the basis for an art lesson. We focus on the lines, " My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams." The children create their own dream houses, first by sketching on 12 x 18 paper, and then by painting ( tempera ). We add details after the paint has dried, using an ordinary narrow tip permanent marker. The results are always striking! I have had everything from spaceships to houses shaped like pigs. In addition to creating their own dream house, the children dictate to me why their house is their dream house. In other words, they tell me why "My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams." We display their words with their art work in the classroom gallery. The parents love it!
