Finally looking to get into the 21st century with a smartphone, after much research I settled on this little beaut. It was a toss up between this and the HTC Wildfire but the SF had way better reviews and is cheaper too (I paid less than £90 inc £10 top up which is amazing value but look around and you can proably get it for less now).
Build quality is very good for a phone of this price (though not as solid as the much pricier iPhone or Galaxy obviously) and the screen is nice and bright and the speaker loud and clear. It comes with a mains charger from which the USB cable detaches which is a neat idea. The case is sleek and understated in a sort of dark grey/brown colour and has a nice grippy feel to it which should help accidental drops. The power button also works as a sleep/standby control and there are a home, menu and back buttons at the bottom of the screen. Apart from the speaker up/down on the sides they're all the buttons you need. If desired, you can get a cheap and cheerful
silicone cover to brighten up and protect it in different colours.
It was not a difficult job to switch it to vodaphone, simply a case of entering the IMEI number (found on the box or under the battery) on a website (just google unlocking Orange San Francisco - aka zte blade) which then generates the required code. I was all at sea with it at first, particularly texting but turn it sideways and get to grips with the dictionary and you are laughing. I love the way it handles texts as threads and automatically adds frequently used contacts to favourites. The android is full of great little touches like that which make it a joy to use. I'm still using the 2.1 firmware but will look to up it to 2.2 which apparently improves battery life amongst other things. Wi-Fi is excellent and easy to turn on and off and full screen videos from You Tube are excellent despite it not being HD. The 3.2 Mp camera is not the best but perfectly useable for the odd snap.
The Bluetooth is "Ford Audio" compatible which is a bonus as I have a Mondeo and the setup (just enter the pin shown on the display) is very quick and easy. Once done the car will pick it up automatically every time you turn the radio on.
For someone like me who is thinking of moving on from their old push-button Nokia or whatever, this is an excellent entry level smartphone that has a decent rep and for well under a ton and you'll probably kick yourself for not getting one sooner.
