As to be expected from this author, this is a fantastically unusual book - very basic, though engaging in concept. The illustrations are beautiful and expressive. My 17 month old daughter adores it and often appears to "read" it to herself, so simple is 'storyline'. I think this would be a favourite for many young children and worthy of note to anyone interested in the art of children's illustration.

This is one of the lovieliest books Ive ever encountered. Only four words go into this whimisical story. The illustrations are loose watercolours that suit the quirky nature of this book perfectly. This is yet another childrens' book that I bought as a gift, but then had to get a copy for myself when i fell in love with it. Children laugh with joy at the simplicity of it and I would reccomend it for anyone who loves beautiful books.

By young man VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
A simple book that is perfect for use with even the youngest child.

It is really short so can be read quickly to a young child who is squirming on your lap, but the pictures can start some lengthy discussions.

It even showed my older child the importanct of punctuation!

not much to it
I was disappointed by this book. The illustrations are beautiful, but there really isn't much to the story line. Just "orange, pear, apple, bear". Read more

A beautiful book great for babies
We bought this book when our son was 11 months. I thought it would be too old for him as he was too young to grasp the amusing interaction between the text and pictures. Read more

This is just the most beautiful book - even by Emily Gravett's standards. We're always delighted when our son picks it for bedtime reading.
