Frequently Asked Questions

How does Oral-B’s technology compare to regular manual toothbrushes?

The Oral-B electric toothbrush was designed to be used like your manual toothbrush while removing up to 100% more dental plaque, even between teeth. This toothbrush also reduces gingivitis up to three times better than an ordinary manual toothbrush, reaches up to two times deeper between teeth and removes up to four times more dental plaque than a regular manual brush. Its motion delivers a superior clean in between teeth while reaching places manual toothbrushes normally miss.

What are the customised brushing modes and how do they differ from one another?

The Oral-B PRO 2000 has two features: Daily Clean and Gum Care.

Which toothbrush heads are compatible?

All of the following Oral-B toothbrush heads are compatible with the Oral-B Pro 2000 Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush: CrossAction, FlossAction, 3D White, Precision Clean, Sensitive Clean, TriZone, Power Tip and Ortho.

What’s the importance of the Visible Pressure Sensor alert?

It is important to brush gently to promote proper cleaning. The pressure sensor alert lets you know when you're brushing your teeth too hard, which can cause the bristles to bend and wear out quickly, resulting in less than optimal cleaning.

How long does the Pro 2000 hold a charge?

A fully charged Oral-B Pro 2000 electric toothbrush lasts for up to seven days with regular use. To ensure that your battery is able to hold its maximum capacity, deplete the battery by not placing it on the charging station until it is fully discharged. Do this at least once every six months for best results.

The Braun Oral-B PRO 2000 is very good, although there isn't really anything that matters when it comes to choosing between it and the bottom of the range model, the Oral-B 600. If you have looked over the comparison chart to see which of the range to buy you might start to wonder which one will suit you, and since the blurb for them all is that typical fancy sales stuff you may find it all a little less than useful. So I will give a quick explanation of what you actually get.

At the bottom of the range is the Oral-B 600. It is pretty basic. It's more or less a rechargeable version of the old Braun Oral-B battery brushes with the addition of a built in timer, a time to recharge reminder light, and a pressure sensor. It does what it is supposed to and nothing more.

Next up is this model, the Oral-B PRO 2000. Which oddly enough is pretty much exactly the same. It is supposed to have the addition of 'Gum care' as a feature. Which doesn't really appear to mean anything.

The Oral-B PRO 3000 is the same as the PRO 2000 but with an extra replacement brush head.

The Oral-B PRO 4000 has a few more goodies. It comes with three different brush heads, but after trying them I can't seen any particular need to swap between what is effectively a hard, medium, and soft head. The medium one (which is what you get with the lower models) is perfectly fine. The machine also has several modes, which the lower models do not. You select the mode you want by pressing the on-off button to cycle through them. The default mode is the same as the lower models, and frankly, after trying the other modes a couple of times I found myself just using the default one all the time.

The whole Oral-B range are fantastic. This is the bottom of the top range. It has 2 'modes' so you might well ask yourself how many modes does a toothbrush need. We have a 2000, a 3000 and a 4000 in our house. So they all look the same, feel the same and the only difference is that the 4000 has 4 modes. I can honestly say that in the probably 2 months I have been using my 4000, I have never used anything but the basic mode.

The 2000 comes with a basic charger which is all you need. We have 4 Oral-B brushes in the house in total so we are rotate and use a single charger in the bathroom. The 4000 comes with a plastic case to hold your various heads and the 2000 and 3000 do not but we don't use the plastic thingy anyway.

The 2000 is fantastic and I see no reason to spend a penny more, let alone the tens of pounds more on the 4000 or 3000 model. The 2000 has the pressure indicator, a bright light that comes on if you press too hard. This is quite a useful feature. My teeth feel squeeky clean after using this toothbrush, exactly as much as after using the 4000 or the 3000.

They are all the same and the extra modes just get in the way so, if you want my opinion, get the 2000 and don't waste your money on anything posher.

I am a reluctant user of electric tooth brushes but realise they are definitely a quicker way of getting your teeth really clean and are always recommended by dentists.

Replacing a 3 year old brush, the first thing I noticed is the design is slightly more compact and easier to use in a small mouth.

The head provided with the brush is a small cross action head, which is also much better as I had been using a double replacement head on my old one, which my Hygienist does not like as much as they are more bulky and less easy to make sure you clean all around your teeth. The brush runs much faster than I am used to, which is good, although because of this it is also noisier and I found it reverberates a bit in my head during use which isn't particularly pleasant but no doubt I will get used to it. Liked the pale blue colour, looks nice on the bathroom shelf.

(Star rating, it loses one due to the noise!)

I've been using Oral B electric toothbrushes for many years now, and there is no way I could go back to a normal brush. On the odd occasion I've had to use a normal brush, my teeth just didn't feel clean... horrible. My wife has claimed for years that electric toothbrushes were just a gimmick and a normal brush worked just as well. After one use of an electric brush, she was totally converted and couldn't believe how much cleaner her teeth felt. Electric is the only way to go!

I've only ever used Oral B electric brushes and have always found them good. I like the small round brush head, and purposefully haven't tried the other types of head available. A full charge lasts a week to ten days or so, but more than once have been caught out, not checking the charge indicator, and ending up with a flat battery.

Personally, I like the simple brushes, like the 2000. I've tried the 5000, and the 6000, but I only use the one brush mode and I don't really use the smart guide LCD screen, although it is fun initially.

Good brushes, replacement heads fairly cheap and units are always on 50% off offer somewhere, highly recommended.
