Awesome production, blasting drums, brutal technical riffs, and great growling vocals. What more do you need? Bass? You've got it!

Very Impressive 15 Dec. 2009
By Joseph Fletcher - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Fleshgod Apocalypse came out of nowhere for me. This Italian band mixes technicality with melody seamlessly. This is nothing like many of their American tech-death counterparts who seem to focus on form over substance (i.e. playing terrible music really, really fast). Nearly every riff is immediately recognizable as music (shocking!), but still extremely technical. For this reason (and the many classical interludes), many people are aptly describing this band as having heavy classical influence. Another thing worthy of note: many of the songs seem to flow right into one another as would a classical symphony if it were comprised of ten movements played by some very angry people. Even in the context of music theory, these songs are closer to a classical style of composition as opposed to the more typical "metal" approach.

Attempting to list standout tracks is completely futile as nearly every song on this album is extraordinary. Get the album and thank me for recommending it.

Impressive! 16 Aug. 2009

At first I was not sure what to expect from Fleshgod Appcalypse, a death metal band that mixes classical elements with sheer brutality. I've always enjoyed Yngwie and Stratovarius, but I wasn't sure how these two styles would mix. I couldn't be more impressed with the result. Fleshgod is first and foremost a death metal band at the top of their game. If I had to compare them to anyone, I would say Deicide, but Fleshgod are more than capable of carving their own path. The classical music elements are definitely present, both in piano and vocal interludes as well as the scales used during the actual songs, but they only enhance the overall effect of the music. If you are even slightly considering purchasing this album, I say go for it. If you like death metal, you won't be disappointed.

Whoa! 27 Sept. 2009
By Evan P. Archer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is BRUTAL. The drumming will rattle your chest and knock your fillings loose. Is this guy for real? The double bass is just unholy, with blastbeats to match. This band makes me think of a cross between Vital Remains and Origin, but with some classical influence thrown in as well. Interesting, and it really adds some originality to their sound. These guys are masters of brutality. Seriously, you're not gonna find anything more brutal than this. Listen to this loud on a good sound system and you may not survive. We're talking brain hemorrhage here. I don't see how they do it. Oh, and the music is actually interesting too.
Pummeling, intelligent, and dare I say innovative? 1 Feb. 2011
By William Dorfer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Yep, this band goes up there on the top of my "Bands That The Rest of the World Really Needs To Hear" list. These guys really make death metal an artform. From a music theory standpoint, these songs are all at the same time technically challenging, classically-influenced and expressive in dynamics. I'm honestly blown away that this band is able to combine melodic/brutal/technical death metal with classical music, and do it as well as they do. Also, unlike MANY technical death metal bands, this band is not just a bunch of overly-complex instrument wankery. Rather, these guys are true musicians and are excellent at making even the most complex piece entertaining for musicians and non-musicians alike. Being a musician, I'm thoroughly impressed with these guys and what they do, and being Italian, I'm proud to call these guys of my nationality! This album raises the artistic side of the bar of death metal to new heights. Very highly recommended. Thanks for the time, and peace.

This is a very good album by Italian death metal artists fleshgod apocalypse.
There is a lot of orchestration, mixed in with some great death metal blast beats.
