Well, except for the fact that the text was replete with lots of errors, I really liked this book! It really helped me prepare and then "A" pass all the certification examinations.
I would say that if you don't notice the errors your really not ready for to take the exam! If the errors dont pop out and punch you in the eye, then you haven't "absorbed" the knowledge required to be an OCP...thus the errors are good from a twisted logic point of view! If you don't see them, then you are doomed to failure!. As you read the book use a highlighter pen to mark all the errors, its fun :-)! It's like "Where's Wally" for Oracle DBA's, believe me life as a DBA doesn't get much more exciting!
I also purchased the "Oracle DBA Exam Cram" book by Michael R. Ault which was much much more error prone and didn't have even cover the details like this volume.
You shouldn't reject this book just because it contains a few too many errors. This is a huge volume, 1250 pages, 25 chapters, lots of great information, lots of great summaries, lots of test questions and lots of test answers with explanations! If you are a good DBA and need to brush up on the obscure details of Oracle (such as cluster management or what X$KCBRBH does) this book is for you and is money well spent!
Please Jason. S. Couchman lets have a 2nd Edition without errors!
