Hola,

Os recomiendo este grupo ya que te hace revivir los grandes grupos de principios de los 80. Es un álbum con canciones muy variadas y de gran calidad y que merece la pena comprar. Sólo decir que es una pena que este grupo haya sacado sólo 2 Lps.
Si lo compráis, espero que os guste, ya que tiene buen sonido y Hogg tiene personalidad cantando.

When people mention Sheffield bands, people will automatically think of Pulp and the Human League, but not for much longer. New boys Hoggboy, despite their rather silly name (chosen by front man Tom Hogg) have created an album of startling quality, and without a single filler or dud track!

The album is full of gems, although stand out tracks for me have to be 'Gonna Take Me A While' which has a stunningly good guitar riff, the vitriolic 'Death of A Friend', with blurted chorus "I'll take your love / You can spend my money". Former single, and undoubtably a radio friendly track, 'So Young' is catchy and will have alternative clubs accross the country jumping about.

The album cools it's heals towards the end with '1:10' and 'Mile High Club', the later of which is reminescant of former Sheffield indie boys 'Longpigs' track 'Over Our Bodies'.

It's a mystery to me why this lot are being largely ignored in the music press as, in my humble opinion, this is one of the best debut albums by a British band this year. Hoggboy sound like the Strokes would if they'd been brought up on a council estate in Sheffield rather than in swanky Manhattan penthouses. From the opening blast of "Left And Right", Hoggboy take the sleazy cool of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and put a British spin on it. Stand-out tracks include "So Young", "Shouldn't Let The Side Down", "Gonna Take A While" and the superb instrumental "Call Me Suck". You really should think about buying this.
