Product Description

CD Description

This is a must for all fans of Threshold, Circus Maximus, Pagan's Mind and Seventh Wonder. A new generation of Progressive Metal has been born in Wales by the up and coming Lost In Thought. Lost In Thought formed in late 2007 when David Grey and Simon Pike embarked on a quest to find other musicians to compose and perform progressive tinged music with. Linking with Greg Baker and Chris Billingham, they soon became a force to be reckoned with in their home of UK.After completing their line-up with vocalist Nate Loosemore, the band recorded a demo EP early 2010, immediately grabbing the attention of well-renowned booking and management company Intromental Worldwide.Setting out to write and record their debut album in the fall of 2010, the band realized that they had been composing 8 songs that weren't just of "newcomer status", but really were of as high quality as any contemporary progressive metal album out there. Sweden's Inner Wound Recordings label recognised the talent and potential, and signed the band for a spring 2011 release. The debut album, "Opus Arise", was recorded at home in Wales, and sent off to Denmark to be mastered by Jacob Hansen (known for Volbeat, Mercenary, Destruction, Pretty Maids, Rob Rock a.o).The band has a wide variety of musical influences, which is incorporated in their music. Combining the elements of progressive rock/metal, melodic metal-core and symphonic metal to create their unique and epic sound. From all these musical elements, Lost In Thought's music consists of both heavy and distinct riffs, large orchestrations, melodic guitar and keyboard unisons, epic vocal melodies, variable time signatures and dynamic ballad sections. At the same day the debut album "Opus Arise" is released, the band will embark on a one month long tour supporting Delain and Serenity at venues across Europe. Do not miss out on this exciting new band.

Debut Album of 2011 5 July 2011
Format:Audio CD
This is (so far) the debut album of 2011. Many site reviews have marked this album down because of the likeness to Dream Theater and lack of originality. Who cares?..Yes there are similarities but DT has been on a downward slope for years so now it is the turn of younger bands. For me I don't care who they sound like, it's what comes out of the speakers that counts and on this occassion this is simply brilliant. All members of the band deserve an equal mention. Vocalist has a great range, great riffs and solos that don't last too long and a solid rhythm section. But it is the songs that are the winners. Great arrangements, memorable choruses and terrific song structures. Progressive / symphonic / melodic metal at its best. And what could be better?...They are from the UK...So now along with Threshold we can offer the US and Europe some real competition in this genre.
So, if you like DT, Seventh Wonder, Pagans Mind, Circus Maximus, do yourself a favour and buy this great CD. Can't wait to see them live and the next album!!

When I first came across this mysterious group I was unsure on what to expect in terms of quality of the members because of the fact that this was their debut. My ears were then kicked into action when I listened to a couple songs from their Facebook page. The sheer talent that came from these two songs blew my mind from the fact that they were just starting out. They were already at the quality of those that have been playing many years and this sold me. In my view I would compare them to the likes of Dream Theater and Seventh Wonder. The raw energy that erupts from every song and the punches that it deals to your eardrums makes this album one that needs no hesitation in purchase and makes it one of the best debuts I have ever heard from a complex group such as this. If you are not sure, just listen to a couple songs... then buy this tenfold uppercut of an album!

I can only pass comment on the opening track on this album as the album itself is not released until the end of April. However, if "Beyond the Flames" is representative of the album then this will be a HUGE masterpiece of a cd.
Awesome drumming driving along a delicious but powerful symphony of guitars, bass and keyboards ensure you stop thinking about the mundane minutiae of your everyday existance and stay riveted to your speakers. Suddenly the money you spent on those high fidelity sound systems is being repaid. Every time you hear the song something else pops out at you. It's one of those songs that make you want to pick up your air guitar or wave your arms around like a Phil Collins gorilla impersonator. If the album is half as good as this taster track - it's going to be the album of the year. Buy it, buy it now.
