    This is a really great projector, at a very impressive price (£529 if you shop around) - the cheapest WXGA I've seen! Many DLP projectors suffer from the "rainbow effect" but with this Optoma there is virtually no rainbow effect at all - this is due to the 4x speed colour wheel, which is faster than you would find in many other projectors. Out of the box, the picture is great. I found the yellows were maybe slightly muted but this can be adjusted by the on-screen menus. The actual projector looks very sleek - the black and silver case looks really classy - and it comes with all the inputs you could want, expect SCART, but don't worry - a SCART adapter comes in the box. Being HD ready, it's also got an HDMI port for your HD-DVD or Blu-ray. The remote is easy to use, and the buttons light up so you can see them in a darkened room. Thankfully the remote seems to be very powerful too - you don't actually need to point it at the projector for it to work. In operation, the Optoma is quiet, particularly in the "normal" brightness setting.

    It really is wonderful to watch a movie, or play a game on a projector - you get an 80", 90" or 100" image from something that costs the same as a decent 37" LCD TV - bargain or what?!

    Overall, I am very pleased with this projector - it looks great, gives a fantastic picture, is easy to use and is excellent value for money!

    The projector itself is a slightly lower spec version of the Optoma HD70 - the only technical difference being the reduced contrast rating (2000:1 instead of 4000:1). The projector itself even says HD70 on the bottom. A number of people have said that you can't really tell the difference when the two are side by side - so i'd recommend the HD720X. I prefer the black look of the HD720X to the white HD70 anyway. The projector is fairly quiet and produces a great picture when hooked up to a HD source (such as the XBOX 360 I am using). DLP projectors are known for having a 'rainbow effect' but this is very minimal and is very rarely noticeable. Lots of settings to configure although be aware that this only provides digital keystone projection rather than optical, so if your projector is not dead central you will lose some quality when correcting the picture shape. Overall highly recommended
