Overview

Imagine the excitement of 3D games, 3D movies and 3D sport combined with the Full HD display of 1080p on a screen size of 120” … you have just imagined the Optoma HD300X Full 3D 1080p projector. This is one of Optoma’s first 1080p products with integrated 3D technology as standard. Using next-generation frame interpolation technology ‘Puremotion4’, the HD300X offers a smooth video performance whilst the 3D projection creates 120” life-size 3D games, movies and live sports. With 1600 Lumens brightness and 8,000:1 contrast ratio, a high quality home cinema performance is maintained.

The HD300X can be used with the latest 3D games consoles, 3D Blu- ray™ players and also receive 3D satellite television broadcasts, delivering a massive 3D experience right into your living room or home cinema.

Full HD 3D in your own home!
Full 3D, 1080p Projector

Why use a projector for 3D?

It is a widely accepted fact that “the bigger the image, the greater the 3D effect”. For the best results it is essential to fill your field of vision, without being too close to the screen. A 50” 3DTV, although large by television standards, can only create a window into the 3D world. Whereas, the HD300X can produce a huge 120” diagonal image that will fill your peripheral vision, creating an environment much closer to the 3D you’ve seen in the cinema.

Due to the inherent drop in image brightness using any active 3D glasses, maximising light output is a top priority for 3D displays. This is why we have developed ‘PureD’, an automated system of advanced image processing and dynamic lamp modes that enhance your viewing; providing a 3D experience similar to existing 2D projectors; without the need for any manual input.

3D Movies, 3D Gaming, 3D Sport
Compatible with Blu-ray 3D™, Sky3D and 3D Games Consoles

Full 3D, Full HD 1080p

With direct support for Blu-ray 3D™ players, 3D broadcast signals like Sky3D and 3D games from the latest games consoles (connections include 2x HDMI 1.4a inputs); Not only does the HD300X produce breath taking 3D, also upholds the highest quality image clarity with a Full HD 1080p resolution.

3D content will be made ultra-smooth with PureMotion4 frame-interpolation processing, reducing judder. Clear and vibrant images with 1600 ANSI Lumens brightness and 8,000:1 ANSI contrast ratio make for a vivid home cinema experience. Combining specialist optics with bright images, crystal clarity and exceptional light and shade detail.

3D Movies, 3D Gaming, 3D Sports

3D setup is simple with the HD300X. There are no additional 3D adapters required to produce a 3D display, as Full 3D technology is built into the projector as standard. You will however need a 3D source and some 3D content, for example: SKY 3D subscription and a SKY 3D broadcast.

Once these are all powered up you simply connect the source to the projector via HDMI cable. Optoma recommend using “High speed” HDMI cables, the quality of the 3D image produced may depend on the length and quality of a HDMI cable. Once this is complete, you simply switch on a pair of Optoma DLP® LinkTM 3D Glasses – which are sold separately.

3D content for films, gaming and sport has now started increasing and it has also started improving. More 3D football broadcasts appear every season and the camera angles now in place maximise perspective and show a true to life depth within the stadium – the next best thing to actually being in the stands.

As for gaming, turning 3D was a natural progression; immersing the gamer has always been the main objective for any game developer and now with the major console manufacturers on board, even the biggest titles in the gaming world will be supporting 3D. Likewise for film producers, the popularity of 3D films in the cinema is increasing and so is the amount of 3D Blu-ray™ discs. The HD300X allows you to enjoy the same jaw-dropping 3D cinema experience in the comfort of your own home, now in fantastic Full High Definition resolution.

Digital connectivity - 2x HDMI
Easy to connect, 3D straight from source

How does it look?

The projector casing is sophisticated with a glossy black finish which respects the curved body and hard lines of the chassis, but in addition to suiting a home cinema aesthetically, the HD300X is also one of the smallest 1080p projectors on the market. An advantage that is mutually exclusive to DLP technology, which has traditionally been very lightweight compared to other technologies. Furthermore, there is housing for a universal ceiling mount, so the HD300X can either be installed for a cinema environment or sit on a living room coffee table.

Sleek black casing
Suitable for home cinema install or on your living room coffee table

Affordability

This is what sets aside the HD300X from other Full 3D, 1080P projectors; for a projector at the pinnacle of 3D entertainment, the cost is surprisingly low and is one of the cheapest 3D 1080P projectors currently on the market.

Easy installation process
Simple to set up

PureMotion

Using next-generation hardware from our award-winning ThemeScene projector range, the HD300X is the first Optoma Home Entertainment projector to include our advanced frame-interpolation processing - PureMotion4.

In its lowest setting, PureMotion4 retains the “dream-like” quality of film while maximising the detail in every frame – whereas the highest setting virtually eliminates motion blur; perfect for live sports, where absolute fluidity is essential. Whether you are watching in 2D or 3D, PureMotion4 gives you silky smooth performance.

Comes as standard
User friendly interface and backlit remote control

24p

Most movies are shot at 24 frames per second. With the advent of true 24p content in stunning 1080p High Definition, you can now enjoy films exactly as the director intended, but what about your existing film library? – Using advanced frame conversion techniques, the HD300X can re-capture the original 24p frames from all your favourite DVD titles, completely removing unnecessary “pull-down judder” to give them a completely new lease of life.

Pure Colour

Pure Colour provides vivid, perfectly balanced colour with impeccable colour uniformity for vibrant, natural looking images. Deep Colour makes it possible for the HD300X to reproduce billions of colours ensuring smooth tonal transitions and subtle graduations between hues.

About DLP®

Unlike competing technologies, DLP® (Digital Light Processing) from Texas Instruments uses millions of tiny mirrors to maximise the available light output, while the inherent speed and high ANSI contrast work simultaneously; eliminating crosstalk, to create a vivid and compelling 3D experience.

Home cinema has always been about recreating the big-screen experience in your own living room – and the HD300X is no exception. With 1600 ANSI Lumens, the HD300X is one of the brightest 1080p projectors around, making it not only the perfect choice for recreating that cinema feeling at home, but also ideal for inviting your mates round to watch the big match. Whether you just fancy a relaxed Movie night or immersing yourself in adrenaline-pumping 3D games, the HD300X is the perfect choice.

WOW

What a machine.

As a long time projector owner of various models over the years, let me just tell you this projector has an utterly amazing 3D image, I mean this is an absolute corker at this price and produces an image you'd expect from a 3D projector a few times more expensive. It is *that* good.

2D looks great as well, but 3D is where this projector excels, it will quite literally feel like you have a mini-IMAX in your house, better in some ways as this projector can add frames for 3D smoothness as well as do other on the fly image improvements.

This projector uses active shutter glasses and they work flawlessly, and has the massive benefit over passive glasses of full HD 3D to each eye, the result is outstanding detail. I use the Optoma RF glasses and they are big and comfortable, no sync, ghosting or crosstalk issues due to the benefits of using DLP and RF technology.Throw Avatar, Tron, Tangled, Ulimate Wave Tahiti 3D etc in your blu ray player and just sit back and enjoy the incredible world you are transported into. Throw Drive Angry 3D in and it's like you are there standing next to Amber Heard, of course you're not, but it sure looks like it.

I know this sounds a bit like marketing fluff, but seriously, there is a reason why this projector gets such good reviews and it's due to the incredible image, it will make a 3D convert of anyone and blows any 3D TV out of the water. Of course this will depend on your room and screen, but even in non-optimal conditions it will still impress.

3D gaming... well throw in Killzone and you'll feel like you are actually there in the action, downside is PS3 games are 720p in 3D, but it's still immersive.

It's a pretty quiet machine I've found, I never notice the sound, even when sitting right next to it. To top it off it looks stylish to boot. It's not the smallest unit in the world though. It also needs to be fairly carefully positioned, so you will have to get your measurements right, but provided you do, you are in for a treat.

In summary, if you are after a 3D projector, this is a spectacular piece of kit for the money. You'll never shell out for a 3D movie at the cinema again, not when you can get a better picture at home.

hd300x vs hd33 17 Dec 2011
This projector is extremely good value compared to the hd33 which is around £300 dearer for the same real world specifications.
Although technically the hd33 has a slightly higher lumens value and contrast, you would NEVER see the difference without some technical light measuring equipment.
I have seen both close up and can tell you that they perform EXACTLY the same way, but with the 300x you wont have a throbbing pain in your wallet.

3d performance is quite simply outstanding, whilst watching "ocean wonderland 3d" I actually had to put my hand out to convince my brain that the coral really wasn't 6 inches from my nose!
It's THAT good.

Bonus is that it also works extremely well with Sky's new 3d channel in side by side format, excellent depth and colour with no additional equipment (other than your sky+hd box).

2D is also fantastic and has noticeably better blacks than my previous projector (an hd20).

Quite frankly at this price I cant understand why anyone would spend 2-3k (or more) for a 50 inch 3d television when technology like this is available for a fraction of the price.
With the projector around 20 ft away from the screen/wall you will easily get a 120 inch image which is extremely immersive in 3d mode.

PS3 also works a charm, 6 ft zombies running at you in your own living room has to be seen to be believed :-)

Also worth noting is that you dont NEED a screen, a blank wall will do (as long as it doesn't have flowery wallpaper on it) as any colour bias can be tweaked out with the controls on the projector (my wall has an off white yellow tinge to it and works fine once calibrated).

Remember to factor in the price of glasses as well, I would recommend the rf glasses as they are very good at holding a signal no matter where you are looking, you will need an emmitter and at least two pairs of glasses which can be had for around £150 if you shop around.

Be careful too of your cables, if you have some recent hdmi 1.3 cables (like me) you should be fine but if yours are more than a couple of years old (or you're starting from scratch) then invest in the latest 1.4 versions (£50 or so for a 10 mtr cable if you google around).

What more can I say, if you buy it you wont be dissapointed.
It's like having Imax in your living room!

Optoma hd300x 4 Jan 2012
This has been something i have been meaning to get for some time and having read a lot of reviews, it has blown my socks off straight out of the box. I have not adjusted any of the settings and the image is absolutely stunning. Blu ray films look better on this than they do on my large screen TV and the 3D is breathtaking, i used optoma DLP glasses and they were easy to use and comfortable to wear. All in all a fantastic buy and im so glad o took the plunge!
