This book is very good for any person interested in derivatives, whter student or professionals. I think for student it best way to study, becuase the explantions to each issue has been narrated in very easy way and with examples. The step by step method gradually takes you to higher stage with understading of basics. For me anybody interested in the derivatives should have this book.

This is a fantastic book. It saw me through a very challenging Finance masters programme. The explanations are clear and the examples are easily followed. It is fairly current and has good practical applications.

Now, in my professional life, it is one of the books sitting on my desk. I use it regularly and have to sometimes fight colleagues to get it back!

Enjoy!

Hulls book is a good book especially strong from practical perspective. Actually when evaluating it I have been in dilemma whether to give 4 or 5 stars, which I believe it actually deserves 4.5 ; but in the end I decided to give 5 stars. It provides the theory concisely in such a manner that an undergraduate level of knowledge in mathematics and probability is sufficient to follow. And it has many exercises to develop knowledge and practical skills. It can be considered as a very succesful book from this perspective.

For the ones who want to get deeper in theoretical backgrounds, Shreve's "Stochastic Calculus for Finance Volumes 1 & 2" can be used as complimentary to this nice book of Hull, which can optimise the benefit I believe, providing deeper theoretical knowledge in the field. (But especially Volume 2 of Shreve is more a graduate level)

The reference for courses and professional trading. Some might argue over minor mathematical details - but this is what all the derivatives traders use. Very well written and very thorough.
