Product Description

Product Description

Unlike most books on derivative products, Options Explained 2 is a practical guide, covering theoretical concepts only where they are essential to applying options on a wide variety of assets. Written with the emphasis on a practical, straightforward approach, Options Explained succeeds in demystifying what has traditionally been treated as a highly complex product. The second edition also includes over 100 pages of new material, with sections on exotic options, worldwide accounting practices and issues in volatility estimation.

Options Explained covers the spectrum of these markets in a simple, yet profound manner. The style is accessible to all and easy to read.

Innovative research is included such as work on option trading strategies across different markets (correlation trading), implied volatility surfaces, exotic options and risk management issues.

It is probable that if this book had been properly marketed it would have become the standard text on this field.

BUY IT, before stocks run out.

A very informative book 11 Jan 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I've found this book to be as informative as any book written on equity options to date. Tompkins takes on a complex subject and makes it understandable . If I could make only one suggestion to the author , it would be " Talk more about takeovers " ; the effects on option pricing and volatility :...A definate buy for the person looking to understand the equity options enviroment.. Excellent Mid-Level explaination of Derivatives Products 18 July 1997
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Mr Tomkins walks the fine line between layman accessiblity and Rocket Scientist complexity in this well-written (and often suprisingly amusing) book with dexterity. Most of the competion are repetitive and trivial or ferociously mathematical.

My only complaint is that this category of book is always expensive. However at least in this case one gets good value
