NO LET UP!! 19 April 2010
By nin/ja77 TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Dillinger Escape Plan are back with album number 4, the third featuring Greg Puciato on Vocals which is good going when you consider the high turnover of members and bad luck they have had. Already is staking a claim for all those year end best of polls and after a couple of listens it's easy too see why.

On 2007's "Ire Works" DEP threw in a few surprises the most obvious being "Black Bubblegum" which sounded like it was heavily influenced by Mike Pattons Faith No More or even Tomahawk, i even knew some people who purchased the album thinking that this must be their normal sound, it would be a pity if those fans were disappointed and gave up as all long term DEP fans know that this band is capable of alot of different styles, and are maturing more and more on each album, as is evident on album opener "Farewell Mona Lisa" which starts in typical DEP fashion and then suddenly changes direction as Greg changes to singing heartfelt lyrics and just for a moment it comes close to a ballad, it really sets the album up brilliantly! Its then on to proper business with "Good Neighbour" which is full force and will have you turning up the volume even louder. "Gold Teeth On A Bum" is a real gem as Puciato changes pace for the chorus.

The song that will turn alot of heads is "Widower", Which has Ben playing some jazzy piano lines alongside Mike Garson(he also plays piano on "I Wouldn't If You Didn't") an American Pianist who famously played with David Bowie on the Ziggy Stardust tour as well as playing on his album Aladdin Slane and has also worked worked with Nine Inch Nails and many more, and at 6 minutes long "Widower" has plenty of changes of pace along the way and you just know how its going to finish! The final four songs are all classic DEP, featuring all the elements that make them great, in particular "Parasitic Twins" which has Jeff Tuttle on added vocals and shows off how good they have now become. Ex lead vocalist Dimitri Minakakis provides the artwork for the album which is top notch as always.

The Dillinger Escape Plan are not for everyone but for us people who love them we feel fortunate and know other people are missing out and "Option Paralysis" could be their best work yet.

I am very Impressed 5 April 2010
By Mr. S. Heptinstall TOP 1000 REVIEWER

I have been a fan of Dillinger for some years now, and they have matured and progressed so much over the years that its almost like listening to a different band at times, in fact it virtually is considering they have had got through more members than Hugh Hefner has playmates.

Option Paralysis has something for every Dillinger fan, it has the mentality of calculating infinity, the tightness of Miss machine, and the ballad/melodies from Ire works, and it has all been blended into this beast of an album.

The Album kicks in with Farewell, Mona Lisa, an exceptional track, definitely one of my favorites through out the album, and each song is completely different to the next which is one reason i Love this CD. Back in Dillinger's early days, even though they were an amazing band with such a unique sound a lot of their songs blended together into one mental noise. Yeah it was great, dont get me wrong, but it was too repetitive. Now they have formed into this mature, deep song writing band with riffs, shreds, blasts and slaps like you've never known. Some people may feel they have tried to be more mainstream, I personally disagree. I feel they have simply matured and moved into a very deep setting of song writing and passion for what they do. Overall it reminds me most of Ire Works, only so much better and much more precisely constructed and mastered.

Dillinger fans, and people who are new to the band should absolutely buy this album because I personally feel it to be their best one yet. Although I must admit it seems a bit on the short side, just a couple more tracks would have really perfected it.

Excellent album, great sound, unique and different. I love it.

Ex lead vocalist Dimitri Minakakis provides the artwork for the album which is top notch as always and even better if you get this digipack version which has all the pieces fold out to reveal the lyrics, you also get a bonus track "Heat Deaf Melted Grill"(it's really "Gold Teeth On A Bum" reprise) which is a nice bonus!

The Dillinger Escape Plan are not for everyone but for us people who love them we feel fortunate and know other people are missing out and "Option Paralysis" could be their best work yet.
