By now real people are well aware of the one-sided, unrealistic optimistic bias of the American 'positive psychology movement.' In order to make the most constructive decisions in every situation, we have to be more thoughtful than "don't worry, be happy." And no one thinking style works for everyone. So this new book joins my favorite, "The Positive Power of Negative Thinking" by Julie Norem, as essential reading for intelligent people who want to improve thinking, planning, and acting in the real world. Individual differences are the key.

I picked up this book when I saw that Dr. Stephen Covey "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", Brian Tracy and many experts in this field had given it rave reviews. I have read most of the best sellers including "The Power of Now" "Emotional Intelligence" "Self Matters" "Learned Optimism" but none of them gave me this simple formula to make the most of my thinking, emotions, relationships, situations and life.

By the end of the first chapter, I knew I had found what I had been looking for all my life. Dr. Glickman resolved doubts I have carried about positive thinking for years. She also explained the pros and cons of negative thinking and taught me how to be my best when confronting it.

Dr. Glickman has created a new paradigm which consists of the suboptimal (second best) and the optimal (the best). She shows us how to embrace suboptimal thoughts, emotions and situations as optimization signals. Instead of suppressing, ignoring, judging or using wishful thinking to handle suboptimal thoughts, emotions and situations, she shows us how to accept what is out of our control and optimize what is within our control with Optimal Thinking.

I finally have the mental tool to be my best no matter what I'm up against, and I AM making the most of my life. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

This has been a life-changing book for me in so many ways. The Optimal Thinking concept, continues to prove itself to me on a daily basis - I have not had one instance in my life the last 3 years, since purchasing it, where it has failed me. The concept is timeless and it grows with you and your life. Optimal Thinking empowers me daily, on a second by second basis to be the best I can be, and to make the most of my life, regardless of the circumstances I find myself in. This is the best book I have ever purchased, and I do not state that lightly. I imagine, it will always remain the best book I have ever purchased, because it is that powerful. With the foundation of knowledge and understanding and the skills it imparts, it has become invaluable to me. It has also opened my eyes and my mind to numerous other things and has progressed my interests to many other topics and subjects. The return of investment from Optimal Thinking, for me, has been simply phenomenal. I serendipitously found Optimal Thinking and I am very glad I did. It actually is mental software for your mind. You will come to understand the power of what you have found within the very first chapter - I live my life to the fullest every day regardless of my circumstances - that's Optimal Thinking and it works.
