Product Description

These water filters fit both Aqua Optima & Brita Maxtra jugs and last for 60 days (200 litres). They work by reducing chlorine and limescale by up to 80% as well as reducing herbicides, pesticides, lead and other heavy metals.

Manufacturer's Description

The Evolve filter by Aqua Optima is designed to fit water filter jugs, filter kettles and water chillers from Aqua Optima and Brita* Maxtra*, as well as other leading brands using this type of filter.

The filter incorporates Aqua Optima's unique 5-step filtration technology which removes high levels of impurities from tap water.

Clean, clear water for all the family

The Aqua Optima water filter cartridges have a unique patented 5-step filtration system to remove impurities and potentially harmful substances from tap water and maintain a consistent fast flow rate throughout the life of the product.

Better tasting hot and cold drinks

Aqua Optima's unique formulation reduces levels of herbicides, pesticides and chlorine by up to 80%. The activated carbon also helps prevent the unattractive oily film that can occur on the surface of hot drinks.

Improves the look and taste of cooked vegetables

Aqua Optima's layer of ultra fine mesh gives extra clarity to filtered water, improving the look and taste of cooked vegetables.

Reduces limescale, extending appliance life

Calcium carbonate, common in hard water areas, causes the build-up of limescale in kitchen appliances. Using Aqua Optima filtered water will help extend the life of your kettle.

More economical than bottled water

Bottled water is far more expensive and is actually less regulated than our domestic tap water. Aqua Optima filtered water works out at under 4p per litre = a tenth of the cost of bottled water. Drinking filtered tap water also has far less impact on the environment, as most water bottles are non-biodegradable.

All Aqua Optima products are BPA free.

I have been using my first Aqua Optima Evolve 60-Day Double Life Filter 12-Pack Fits Brita Maxtra - 2 year pack cartridge for just over a mont, and I am finding the following:
1. At first the water tasted equally nice to the Brita Maxtra cartridge.
2. It filters the water rather quickly
3. It fits well my BRITA Elemaris Meter XL Black Water Filter Jug
4. It starts slowing down the filtration at about a month's use - a lot.
5. The water, after a month tastes like it's time to change the cartridge. Not bad, but could be better.
In conclusion, I would say that it still is cheaper than the Brita ones and they do their job, but I don't think they last as much as they claim, and that's why I am giving them 3 stars.

I've bought loads of Brita Maxtra's in the past at anything between £3-5 each,so when I worked out that using these 60 day filter it will only cost me 1.66 a month and they fit both my Brita jug and Morphy Richards Kettle, I thought I would have a go. So far the filters do the job. Great tasting water at a fraction of the cost of an equivalent Brita Maxtra....

I brought these when they were selling for 12 pounds for 6 pack of 60 days filter from amazon directly including free delivery. Very good pricing considering they not only cheaper but double the lifetime of 60 days compared to the normal 30 ones.

I own and have been using both Brita and Aqua filter and jugs in the past. In terms of water quality, I do not see much difference between these aqua evolve compared with Brita Maxtra or the old style aqua filters. Very nice tasting water, which is exactly what I wanted. Also I use filtered water to pour into my kettle for boiling. This helped in preventing lime scale build up a lot.

In terms of fitting, these Aqua Evolve have 3 filter holes in the bottom to acclerate water passage. Much quicker filtering compared to the Brita Maxtra or the old style Aqua filters.

I have tried to use these Aqua Evolve filters to fit into both Brita and Aqua filter jugs.
When fitted into the Brita jugs, it fits alright, unlikely some other reviewers, I cannot detect any leakage of water bypassing the filter.
When the Aqua Evolve is being fitted to the normal Aqua jugs, however, I have noitced a small leak on the side by passing the filter. It does not really affect the water quality, as the quantity is very small.

It's just a bit annoying considering Aqua have launched a product that filts their competitor's (Brita) jug better (as far I as can tell, without leakage). However, when the same filter is being fitted to their own jug, it produce a minor leak.'

Overall, very good pricing filters that can potentially fit both Brita and Aqua jug designs.
Good quality water, indistinguishable from Brita Maxtra or normal Aqua filters.
Good fit for Brita, small leak when fitted to Aqua jugs.

I am not surprised at some of the poor reviews, people don't read the product specs! The company claim a time based on an average expected consumption i.e. 100 - 200 litres per month. Can those complaining actually read? I wait until I see first sign of scum in cup or kettle then change the cartridge. Clean the kettle with a little citric acid at the same time and you are back to square one. I WON'T be buying Brita cartridges unless their price comes down as these do the job.

I bought my Aqua optima Accolade filter jug last June, and was very pleased with it.

My order came with ONE 30-day Evolve FILTER.
That was fine, and the water was good.

Then in July I bought this 6-months supply of Evolve filters, and replaced my first filter with a new one.
Oddly, the water wasn't tasting good anymore.

Because I was going on holiday soon, I had no time to wonder about it, and thought it might be something with my taste or imagination.
Then when I left, I did as the instructions say: wrap it in cling film and store it in the fridge for the holiday.

On my return from holiday, I was struck again that it was not good. I wondered if storing it in the fridge for 3 weeks might have made it worse, so after a while I just chucked it and replaced it again with another of this new 6-months supply.
Same thing!
The taste is much, much worse than from the tap; it has something bitter, metallic in it, which even makes me feel it may be unhealthy!
I have stopped using it, preferring to use direct from tap.

COULD IT BE JUST A BAD BATCH??

My experience with the first filter that came with the jug order was great, so why this now?

Of course, the date for returning has expired by now, but I would like to assess my chances of getting a better pack if I re-order - so has anyone noticed a difference lately?

I have tried the Laica Pozzani filters before but they didn't work without snipping off a bit of a straw to make the water go through the marella jug I have. I am aware that the Laica has a little adaptor now but even so these Aqua optima ones don't need that at all. And they are cheaper as you 6 of these for twelve months for a bit more than you get 8 of the laicas. Water of course tastes great too.
