Product Description

Now you can take close-up shots like you never took before. Opteka proudly presents the next HD10X macro lens. Originally designed for dentists and medical use, the HD10X is now available to the public. Unlike current single element lenses, the HD10X has 4 elements of high definition optical glass that provides unbelievable detail. Cameras fitted with normal lenses do not permit us to move closer than a certain minimum distance from the object being photographed. The Close-Up lens, which is simply mounted in the front of our normal taking lens, permits the taking of close-ups and also makes possible the photography of details which would be quite impossible without using the Close-Up lens. The easy to use solution for getting extra close. These lenses enable you to get much closer than the minimum focus of the standard camera lens - as close as 4 inches from the subject. Ideal for cataloging small items and focusing on details.

Super bit of kit for the price. Reassuring solid, optics are surprisingly good, you can get really nice results from the first try, even without prior experience of macrophotography. (Eg properly scary shots of a 1cm long spider, pin-sharp across his 'face' and with catchlights in his eyes.) Some initial tips for fellow beginners: Forget using autofocus, even the best focusing systems hunt and struggle with a macro-attachment on the lens. Do your initial focusing by physically moving towards or away from the subject, then use manual focus on the lens to fine-tune. I suggest an aperture of f8. Even with the lens stopped right down, there is still little depth of field to play with. You need fairly good light; consider putting your ISO up beyond the norm to secure sufficiently sharp shots of moving subjects such as bugs. And although I expected to get better results with my 18-55mm lens, I actually found a 55-200mm was a better bet.

A cheap addition as an attachment to my Nikon lens that do not have macro facility.
Results were very good considering it is an attachment and only £30.
If you only use macro infrequently then you should seriously consider buying

Does what it says on the pack. If you are like me and are still finding your way around photography - landscapes or close-ups,for example- then this an inexpensive way to get close ups on your macro work.

The product is really well made, and screws into the standard 18-55mm kit lens on my Nikon D60. I've taken a few test shots and I'm very impressed with the quality - it's a great way to get into macro photography, very inexpensively.

What a great company too! 47th Street Photo, although based in the US, outdid a UK company on delivery! By at least 2 days (still not received the other product yet.) Plus the lens came with free gifts - a lens cleaning kit, some plastic covers for your D-SLR's screen, and a miniature tripod.

Now I'm off to go take some shots..

Affordable, and works well on the front of a number of lenses. Gets up close and gives good images. Very easy to use, just screws onto filter thread.

Please note this little adapter has its limitations but for the price its a superb addition to your camera kit.

Quite simply it has allowed me to get much closer to the subject and i have taken excellent macro shots using it on the 18-55 lens kit. You will have to use it at 24mm or more as otherwise there is significant vignetting but i can also see myself using it like this on purpose as it provides a cool 'look' frankly. You may also have some depth of field issues but by turning off the autofocus i have taken great close ups which on its own the 18-55 just will not allow.

I am using the Nikon D3100 and cannot believe how much this little piece of glass provides...given the prices of Nikons 'micro' lens on their own.

Highly recommend.

Smashing little lens that lets you get small items blown up with crystal clarity, it is not as good as a say Sigma 70 to 300 mm in macro mode, but it is no were near the cost of the sigma either, and a lot smaller too.
