I had originally been looking at a large zoom telephoto lens like the Sigma 50-500mm (Bigma) but at around £1000 I just couldn't justify it so I thought that I'd give a mirror lens a shot. I tried a few different types of mirror lens with my Pentax K-r and finally settled on this one from Opteka as the images that it provided were significantly better than all of the other brands. Like all the other mirror lenses that I tried, this is manual focus only. I've taken quite a few shots of wildlife and also of the moon, the 500mm focal length is a real boon here and as the other reviewer said, sorting out the exposure wasn't difficult at all.
Fitting was easy on the Pentax K-r, just straight onto the standard PK mount and away I went, no need to fiddle with any other settings.
Is the image quality as good as you get with something like the Bigma mentioned above at 500mm, I would have to say not quite but it is way better than the other mirrors that I tried and produces some really nice images. So unless you are really really serious and have the cash to burn then I would go for this one.
