Read by John Rubinstein

Syrian terrorists have attacked a dam inside the borders of Turkey, threatening the water supply of their own homeland.  It is not insanity, but the first step in a deceptively simple plan to force all-out war in the Middle East.  This strategy will draw elite troops out of the capital of Damascus, leaving the Syrian president unprotected -- and an easy target for assassination.

What the terrorists don't know is that a new Regional Op-Center is now online in Greece. A mobile version of the permanent crisis management facility, the ROC is a cutting-edge surveillance and information mecca. And its team can see exactly what the Syrian rebels are trying to do.

The terrorists are more resourceful than anyone thinks. They also have ways of obtaining classified information. And the Regional Op-Center -- the United States' newest weapon -- is not a prize to be passed up ...

If your a Clancy fan, you'll enjoy the Op-Centre series, with one exception -Games of State. Whilst it's clear that this series are not from Clancy's pen they are an enjoyable read for any techie who is interested in the affairs of state (That's the American State). However, this book is innaccurate, badly researched and boring! For the first time ever I put a Clancy book down with one hundred pages to go... and I wont pick it up again.

Having read several of the later books in the series, firstly I can say that it gets better. The concept is very sound with a new crisis management team being created and facing their first crisis, a re-ignited war in Korea.

There is some sketchy characterization, some decent action scenes towards the middle and the end and that's about it. The emotional and relationship elements are pointing towards events in future books of the series and thankfully they are better.

I bought this book as a stop gap during a recent holiday.
This book is for paranoid weapons fetishists and probably ideal for 13 yr old boys who don't care for facts.

The characters are reasonably ok but there were a couple of plot holes and the general story was dire.
Some of the stroy was laughable. A 7yr old german boy learning to fly in a Fokker Spinne? Obviously the author hasn't got a clue.

Op-Center series goes from bad to worse.
I have been a long time Tom Clancy fan but these Op-Center one week novels are not only goofy, they are bad. That from someone as talented as Clancy, is sad. Read more

Thank you, but no thank you
I'm sorry to agree with most reviewers. This is a very 'cheap' novel. Had it to be finished in a week? I also must conclude that mister Clancy (or ....? Read more

I felt that the novel was lacking a strong plot.
"Op-Center"

Imagine a group of psycho neo-Nazis trying to take over the world through the use of computers. This idea to me is a little far fetched even for Clancy. Read more

This was a really good book.
Another great thriller from the Op-Center seris. The proper dosage of action and intrige keeps the reader going page after page after page.

Weak effort-- why so many books?
I'm not sure I understand why Tom Clancy feels the need to put his name on so many books, computer games, tv shows, etc. Read more

shallow and just plain bad
the characters were one dimensional almost beyond belief. I read this fresh off of without remorse and the crashing down sensation I experienced was almost more than I could bear

Games of State - Continuing the Clancy trend
Typical Clancy here, really. Steve Pieczenik injects a good dose of 'political chess' into the plot, which moves away from the normal Clancy trend of concentrating on the common... Read more

Not realistic, nor is it entertaining.
This is a very weak effort. Why does Clancy feel the need to churn out so many books? Hasn't he taken enough of our money? Read more
