This is one of the best albums that has been released in 2001. It comes off like a mixture of Nick Cave, Jeff Buckley, Madrugada and Perry Blake but you're never in doubt that it's Anywhen who's playing. Some of the best songs you'll hear all year is on this album! Don't hesitate - Go forth and purchase! Turns out Sweden is more than Abba... ;)

Heard a track on BBC Cymru (BBC Wales - Welsh Language station) and was hooked. The album is a massive, gothic treasure. A collection of songs that continue to grow. A truly magnificent piece of work.

This lies somewhere between the area explored by Tindersticks & Jeff Buckley.Wonderful cd full of real feelings & emotions. The singer sounds like a mix of L.Cohen,Jeff Buckley & Nick Cave.I also think fans of Scott Walker or later day Talk Talk would dig this.

HASH(0x9029030c) out of 5 stars Melancholic, Sublime: Album of the Year 10 Nov. 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I bought this album on a whim because the title is my favorite school of chemicals...my God was I surprised at how incredible it was. Anywhen is a band from Sweden. I really don't know much else about them, but if you are at all a fan of orchestral, beautiful, slow, melancholic music such as Tindersticks, Leonard Cohen, The Blue Nile, Codeine, or Red House Painters...dark, rainy night music, you owe it to yourself to try this. The themes of the album are obvious from the title--struggling to find beauty, or at least oblivion/numbness, in an ugly world. I don't know if Anywhen had any personal run-ins with the opiates, but the first song, "Siren Song" seems to me to be about the temptation to give in to the chemical oblivion that seems to be calling your name. The two Anywhen musicians are joined by an entire orchestra, and the strings are especially beautiful on this track. Other highlights include "Scars and Glasses", "Where's The High?", "Mesmerene" and "All That Numbs You". From the title of this album, I knew at least that Anywhen had good taste in pharmaceuticals...it shows in their taste for flawless musical compositions.

Wow!
That's all I have to say: "Wow!"
The sheer beuty of these songs hit me like a punch in the gut.
I bought the single "Blank" by Anywhen over the net, just out of curiousity, and allthough this album is more soft and laidback I can't help wondering why these guys aren't more famous?!?
Mr Feiner has a bunch of heartbreakingly wonderful compositions under his heart, and the band sure know how to bring them out at their best...
Listen to Siren Songs, it makes me cry from joy. Listen to the mad tunes of Toy. It's all here. You have to hear it to see it.
It pains me that they are swedish, though. I wish they were here in Norway, so I could marry one of them...

its a magic piece of work, for calm music lovers. I would say this album is pure poetry, its a great help to think, to write, to paint, to live.
loving tones, lyrics, «musical spaces».
emotion. belief. respect for the beautiful and dark sie of life.
for sure one of the best albuns I have ever listened...
thank you T. Feiner.

I'm looking for purity and/or originallity. Can't find it here. There's too much saccharine and not enough real feeling. I don't buy the melancholy, it doesn't sound authentic. This is one example when the cover is making more than the music. This is out of my collection. Tindersticks and Red House Painters achieve what this album wants: Being real. It's boredom.
