This is an old movie, but if you haven't seen it, please do! The story, which is true, centres round an extraordinary attempt to persuade the leading Dutch diamond merchants to send their stocks to England before the Nazis seize Amsterdam in 1940. The special agents landed to cary out the task are working against the clock as the enemy approach. They have not only to persuade the merchants but somehow break into the time-locked vaults, all the while evading or fighting off Nazi sympathisers among the Dutch troops.

Nailbiting.The director has used a wonderul ploy of showing clock after clock - car clocks, wristwatches, office clocks, etc -to rack up the suspense.

There are also genuine moments of pathos showing the effect of Nazi bombs falling among fleeing refugees: another true fact.

Unlike in many old films, the acting is taut and believable, the dialogue well written, with the black and white film stock giving period credibility.
