Product Description

Product Description

Where can the waste created by this technological age be disposed of? The by-products of our relentless advancement are often more detrimental than beneficial. The necessity for this 'waste disposal' has given birth to a number of ruthlessly unscrupulous operatives. Open Tap traces the route taken by one such operative and the system he uses to dump the toxic concoctions he has collected. A puppy, lost and finally abandoned, is exposed over a period of time to this malevolent concoction. As the puppy grows to adulthood it develops a strange immunity to the poison it ingests. This immunity comes with a price tag however. From Wales, Walsall and Worcester, the characters in Open Tap begin their journeys to a final appointment with the Beast that the puppy has become. They are all destined to meet. Some will die. Some will live. But all their lives will change permanently as a result of this encounter.

I so enjoyed Trevor Dalton's first book The Possesion Legacy despite only 1 reviewer being competely overly rude and totally unhelpful in his comments, not detered I could not wait for his 2nd novel to be published. Again not dissapointed, a stunning masterpiece, frighteningly realisic, this could/is really happening, proberly taking place somewhere in the world as we speak. Dumping of toxic waste is a serious issue, not to be treated lightly. Mr Dalton seems to have a true insight into this problem. A very good read, I feel would make an excellent movie. Again Mr Dalton has delivered. Please keep them coming Mr D awaiting eagerly the sequel to your 1st novel....

Five and a bit 17 July 2007
By Jeremy W. Newbould TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
He's gone and done it again. Trevor Dalton's second published novel, `Open Tap', following hot on the heels of `The Possession Legacy', is another cracking read.

The story of `Open Tap' is pretty much guaranteed to give environmentalists (and just about anyone else, for that matter) nightmares - the illegal disposal of highly toxic waste leads to the evolution of a mutant canine creature and sets in motion a terrifying and tragic chain of events.

Even though his novels are mainly rooted in the horror/fantasy genre, Trevor Dalton has a talent for creating believable characters and situations. He uses genuine locations in his stories and this helps give a sense of realism to his work. He is a master craftsman at creating ideas and transferring them onto the page and the reader is able to relate to his characters and their emotions. All these elements are woven together perfectly in `Open Tap', culminating in a climax that is quite brilliant.

I thoroughly enjoyed his first novel and I gave that a five star rating but I think that `Open Tap' is even better so it should be worth between five and six stars really. Give this one a chance and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Mr Dalton has combined the environmental theme with his own brand of horror, producing a novel that should have a wide appeal. In case anyone was in any doubt, Mr Dalton has spelled out a possible result of modern man's complete disregard for the world around him. Perhaps man is shown here to be getting his just desert, as the monsters he creates turn around and bite him on the bottom - literally!
