Book Description

1 Mar 2010
"Now Open Sundays!" is a joyful and very funny gift book from Reverend Paul Sinclair. For the past twenty years, he has put up humorous church signs outside his Willesden church, grabbing the attention of passers-by - and indeed, on occasion, the media too. Each sign is a witty and thought-provoking reminder of faith, spreading peace and love in a wonderfully eccentric way. Regardless of religion, this book celebrates life and laughter. Thanks to Dawkins and his chums, much attention has recently been devoted to damning the importance of religion. "Now Open Sundays!" is a unique counterpoint, skewering the foibles of the modern world with a sharp sense of humour and with God on its side.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a laugh! 17 Feb 2011
Format:Hardcover
This is a little book with a big content. Published by the vicar of a London church it shows posters that he had erected over the years to encourage his community to attend his services. He has such a wonderful sense of humour - I wish more vicars were like him.

This would make a wonderful bathroom book as the laughs coming from behind the door would have people lining up in anticipation. Some you have to think about but others there is immediate understanding. A real treasure.

This book is superb. Through perseverance and humour the author and his team turned a very small gathering of people into a vibrant congregation. The play on words is wonderful. So much humour to put over a very serious point. I would recommend this book to anyone.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Amusing 15 April 2012
By Yeokel
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was going to say that if more churches could market themselves and their "product" along these lines they might not be suffering such a drop in their attendances, but that sounds a bit too preachy so I won't bother.

What I will say is that this is an amusing 30 minute browse, with some genuine laugh-out-loud moments and is highly recommended.
