Product Description

Synopsis

This is an examination of the uses and abuses of hypnotism and the manipulation of minds. The author attempts to answer questions regarding receptive candidates for hypnosis and looks at what is possible under hypnosis, from positive and negative hallucinations to becoming paralyzed, regressing to any age and mistaking strong smells and tastes. There is also a section explaining how hypnosis works. The author argues that a proper and full exploitation of the powers of hypnosis could result in vast progress in several areas, primarily in reducing or eliminating pain, but that used wrongly hypnosis can cause extensive harm and may result in years of uncontrolled and bizarre behaviour. The work considers some of the safeguards needed to protect the public from unqualified hypnotists, the need for legislation, rules and codes as well as the need for financial support to enable such safeguards to be set up. Robert Temple is also the author of "The Sirius Mystery", "Strange Things" and "Conversations with Eternity".
