Product Description

Straight-to-DVD sequel of the CGI-animated family comedy. After falling head over hooves in love with fellow deer Giselle (voiced by Jane Krakowski), Elliot (Joel McHale)'s road to the altar takes a slight detour when Mr Weenie (Cody Cameron) is kidnapped by a group of pampered pets led by petulant poodle Fifi (Crispin Glover).

Synopsis

The gang is back in the riotous, all new adventure OPEN SEASON2. When Mr. Weenie is kidnapped by some pampered pets determined to return him to his owners, it's up to Boog, Elliot, McSquizzy and all the woodland animals to launch a full-scale rescue mission and save their sausage shaped friend!

1.0 out of 5 stars More of a turkey than a bear or a deer. 23 Feb 2009
By Lucy Felthouse TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
I adored Open Season. I thought it was clever and funny and would recommend it to others. So I was quite excited to find there was a sequel coming out. My excitement was dampened slightly when I discovered it was going straight to DVD (in the UK, at any rate). And yet further when I found out that Ashton Kutcher and Martin Lawrence were no longer voicing the main characters, Boog and Elliot. It didn't bode well. Still, I put my misgivings aside and sat down to watch Open Season 2.

It was a turkey right from the start I'm afraid. I'm usually a huge fan of animated films but this just didn't get me going. There didn't seem to be any chemistry going on and the characters just weren't the buzzy, crazy creatures of the first film. The plot was reasonable but not the hare-brained (pardon the pun) action seen in the previous movie. It was just flat - totally devoid of the enthusiasm the first outing was spilling over with. It did make me laugh, however. Just the once, mind. And that was right at the end when the characters completely murder The Carpenters' classic Close To You. Karen would be turning in her grave. Don't let Open Season 2 send you to yours early - give it a miss.

2.0 out of 5 stars bad SEASONing $ 6 Mar 2010
Format:DVD
I enjoyed the first movie but this did not live up to the standards. I actually thought it was good for the first half an hour but then it just started gathering dust. I cuoldnt sit still because it was getting so bad. If you want some good funny animation just watch Monsters Inc. or iGor.

2.0 out of 5 stars They made another after this!!!!! 11 July 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have to say my barometer for this is my children - they thought Open Season one was hilarious - and the voice talent and gags - verbal and visual in Open season one had them wanting more - However Open Season 2 is a yawn. When we watched it no raucous laughter could be heard, just mild chuckles now and then and no one is saying let us see it again. The voice talent is not of the same quality and it just has no where to go. Sadly I bought Open Season 3 before watching this - oh hum hopefully no one will choose it on video night

2.0 out of 5 stars Instantly Forgettable 7 Oct 2011
By Puzzle crazy TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
I kind of vaguely remember watching the first Open Season film, but it wasn't the most memorable film I have ever seen. This is an attempt by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to jump on the bandwagon of the success that Pixar and Dreamworks have had in producing computer animated kiddie films, which is so much cheaper and quicker than the old fashioned hand drawn method!

The trouble with the glut of computer generated kids movies is that most of them have really weak storylines. True, there are some real gems, like Shrek or Toy Story, but there are hundreds of instantly forgettable mass produced pieces of tat out there too.

The movie itself takes over where the first one left off. The first movie was about a domesticated bear who was released into the wild, made friends with a deer and had various "buddy" escapades fighting hunters (yawn). The second movie begins with Eliot the deer on his way to wed the love of his life, Gisele, full of fears about commitment. During the wedding, he sees his friend, Mr Weenie the sausage dog being "kidnapped" and decides to embark on a rescue mission. The eventuality is a face off between the wild animals and a group of domestic pets who are keen to return Mr Weenie to their ranks. The dogs are led by a psychotic poodle called Fifi, who has a deep hatred of wild animals (yes, the film really is as bad as it sounds).

I found the film banal. It tries very hard to appeal to adults as well as kids with "in jokes" for the adults, but it manages to fail on both counts. The target audience (the kids) will find it hard to understand the constant references to the "commitment issues" that the deer has, whilst the parents will just find the whole thing intensely irrtating.

4.0 out of 5 stars OPEN SEASON 2 GETTING MARRIED 18 April 2009
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I thought that open season 2 was a good film but compared to the first one it was not as good for the fun side of it. Children will be very happy with the film and love the chase for their friend the dog who gets caught. But I don't want to give too much away of the story.
