I am a seasoned lover of traditional jazz so I cannot entirely agree with the title. but, if I were marooned on a desert island wizh a CD player and one only album, this would be my choice.

As can be seen by the track listing , there is a great selection of both classics and modern numbers . Glenn Miller rubs shoulders with Sting , but without any lack in the feel or continuity of this double album set . There are familiar numbers from television , instrumentals , and solo artists' interpretations of jazz numbers from over the years . The CDs are split into Disc 1 - "Swingin'" , and Disc 2 - "Chillin'" , which gives you some idea of the mood of each . All in all a great introduction to jazz .

Amazon don't even agree with the title as you'll see they say most customers buy it with the Best of Smooth Jazz. Many of these tracks are excellent but not mixed on the same album. Steer clear is my advice.

the only jazz album you'll ever need
The album is a good collect of jazz stanards classic song. If were buying only one album it would be a good album to buy.

mixed reaction
Album has 2 CD one was fantasitc other medioacre. Whilst all the tracks were Jazz they ranged from Latin Jazz to big band to smooth jazz, slighly too wide ranging for me. Read more

EXCELENT FOR A "BACKGROUND MUSIC"
I am very ecletic about musics and this CD was a great aquisition and I am very happy with this acquisition!!!! Exclent for who enjoy receive friends or work with smooth music!!

Superb
This CD lives up to it's title. Full of well known, excellently performed tracks. Double CD with one disc lively and the other relaxing. Really pleased with it.

This really is the only Jazz album you'll ever need. Easy listening, the best of chill out jazz music. Brilliant tracks by brilliant musicians.

I think the cd is really briliant and full of variaty.
I think the cd is briliant! It is full of differently paced songs/tunes for different occations.(if you know what I mean)
