One of the best episodes,

This review is from: Only Fools and Horses - To Hull and Back [1981] [DVD] (DVD)
This feature length episode of Only Fools and Horses was first broadcast in 1985. It benefits greatly from the increased budget, given to the programme thanks to the then BBC controller, Michael Grade, who realised just how good this series was. When To Hull and Back was shown on Christmas Day that year, it was actually put opposite its ITV rival, Minder. At a time when many people did not have access to a video recorder, it came down to a choice between Del or Arthur, it was Del who won. From this point, Only Fools and Horses occupied the position of the nations favourite comedy for the next 15 years. The first of the feature length specials, Hull and Back is also the best. Many of the series memorable supporting cast are present, including Trigger, Mike, and with larger roles than usual, Boycie and Denzil. Boycie basically enroles Del, with the help of Rodney and Uncle Albert. to smuggle some diamonds for him from Amsterdam to England, offering to pay him fifteen thousand for his troubles. However ofcourse events do not go to plan, and Del ends up travelling to Hull, following a meeting in the back of Denzils lorry, with Boycie and his associate Abdul. There are some great moments in the episode, Triggers misguided attempt to chat a woman up in the Nags Head, Del hiring a boat to take him to Holland, and then asking a worker on an oil rig for directions. Boycie is also very funny, particularly when he has to lie to some customers in his garage, about why he has just had a phonecall about diamonds from Del, when his naive assistant loudly stated who is on the phone and why. We also see the return of the bent copper Roy Slater, as memorably played by Jim Broadbent, a one time choice for the rolew of Del. As with all Only Fools dvds, this does however lack extras.

I have seen every Only Fools and Horses episodes and this is by far one of their very best. Del and Rodney decide to become couriers for Boycie and Abdul's diamond smuggling scheme. So when it turns out 'Chief' Inspector Slater is on to the gang Del and Rodney go by sea, only to have Uncle Albert at the healm. And having the episode on DVD makes it twice as fantastic. With a great episode of Only Fools and Horses and a DVD player you are guaranteed 90 minutes of incredible laughs.

released in 1985 and also the first of the feature length episodes,to hull and back is the real deal in terms of lovely jubbly brilliance,a real classic that is packed with classic moments and the episode is just so watchable and repeated viewing take nothing away from this 22 year old classic.
The story involves del and rodney and albert heading to amsterdam to obtain diamonds on behalf of boycie and an associate, and the police are aware of something going down so they are on the look out for those involved in the deal so del decides that if airports arent safe then they will sail across with the help of uncle albert. The show is filled with key moments in only fools folklore such as rodney chasing after del in the three wheel van, denzel losing his mind as he keeps seeing del in places he shouldnt and del and rodney and albert running from the police when it isnt the police, this is a 64 carrot diamond episode in all ways.
