Synopsis

This special Christmas episode of Only Fools and Horses finds Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) getting a swank new job while Del's (David Jason) computer business proves to be no more profitable than any of his other schemes. At a wedding, however, the boys run into Renee, who tells them about an old friend of their mother's named Freddy the Frog who has left all his money to their family. This supposed fortune--a stash of gold bullion--quickly becomes Del's fixation.

In contrast to the classic feature length episodes, To Hull and Back,Dates, and The Jolly Boys Outing, The Frog's Legacy, is really repeated on television. In some ways it can be seen as one of the worst episodes. The first half of the story has one great moment, in which Rodney, in his new job position at a funeral directors, leads a funeral up a one way street. However the second half is not that memorable, apart from the scene mentioned above, there are few moments which stay in the memory, many years after the episodes first broadcast.
The fact that Rodney and Del do not look remotely alike as brothers, is one of the jokes in the series, and in this episode, this issue is firmly addressed, when it appears that Rodney's real dad, was actually a gentlemen thief who buried some gold at sea, which the brothers attempt to locate. We never really believe that the brothers will find this gold, and so the episode never delivers. In many ways, it can be seen in retrospect as a turning point for the programme. After this episode, a new Producer took over the reigns, bringing in Raquel, and making Del more of a would be yuppie, and perhaps more likeable than the figure of the early years. Rodney would also seemingly become more intelligent

Format:VHS Tape
This has to be one of the best, if not the best episode I've seen of OFAH. It starts off pretty average with nothing special about it, but when you hear about the storyline more, it becomes more interesting and Fantastic!
This is definitely a must buy for all those OFAH fans out there.
