In contrast to the classic feature length episodes, To Hull and Back,Dates, and The Jolly Boys Outing, The Frog's Legacy, is really repeated on television. In some ways it can be seen as one of the worst episodes. The first half of the story has one great moment, in which Rodney, in his new job position at a funeral directors, leads a funeral up a one way street. However the second half is not that memorable, apart from the scene mentioned above, there are few moments which stay in the memory, many years after the episodes first broadcast.
The fact that Rodney and Del do not look remotely alike as brothers, is one of the jokes in the series, and in this episode, this issue is firmly addressed, when it appears that Rodney's real dad, was actually a gentlemen thief who buried some gold at sea, which the brothers attempt to locate. We never really believe that the brothers will find this gold, and so the episode never delivers. In many ways, it can be seen in retrospect as a turning point for the programme. After this episode, a new Producer took over the reigns, bringing in Raquel, and making Del more of a would be yuppie, and perhaps more likeable than the figure of the early years.
