Being a 12 Stones fan since the early days, I was highly anticipating the release of "The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday." Like everyone else, I was dissappointed to find the 4th album was only 5 tracks, but they are 5 solid tracks.
"Welcome to the End" is a great start to the disc with a very classic 12 Stones sound and a great drive through the entire song. Of course the addition of some well placed screams is great too. "We Are One," is a great tribute to our nation's military. Sadly, this is probably my least favorite song on the disc, not a bad song, just not as good as the rest. "Disappear" is probably my favorite song on the disc. The guitar sound reminds be of Breaking Benjamin, but the vocals stay true to Paul's style. You can definitely hear Justin's heavier influence on this track. To me the drums sound a bit more crisp, and the gong bass drum hits will wake up your subwoofer a bit. "Tomorrow Comes Today" is a great ballad. The guitar parts seem be a bit repetative, but the song is still very catchy and has a very powerful ending. "Enemy" is a great end to the disc leaving you wanting more. The song has a very edgy sound, again with some well placed screams. The verses sound a bit busy musically to me, mainly with the drum part. The bridge near the end of the track makes up for it though.
Overall, the EP is a great release with a classic 12 Stones sound that I will enjoy listening to for a long time. Hopefully we will see the rest of the full length album in the not-so-distant future. If you are a first time listener, or a long time fan, make sure to check out 12 Stones live, as you will not leave dissappointed!!
