5.0 out of 5 stars Packed solid with good substantial information., 4 April 2009
By Mr. Michael Turner - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is packed solid with good usable information. It consists of 100 detailed tips, which are largely, but not wholly, stand-alone. Contents include maximising the benefits of EXCEL, technical analysis, using screeners, and many other ways to give you an edge by obtaining information online and knowing how to use it. The downside is that it is not an idiots' guide by any means. Readers need some knowledge of the web and Microsoft Office to get the best out of the book. Also it is US oriented (reasonably, since it was written by an American), so as a UK reader I needed some familiarity with finance to be able to transfer some of the ideas to the UK e.g. I made an educated guess that a Certificate of Deposit is a non-negotiable fixed-term savings bond, which wasn't difficult since the term was used within a meaningful context. I would rate this as the best of the numerous investment books I have read, but I would emphasise the reader needs to work at it and try out the tips.
