This is the second book in Nicola Cornicks The Scandalous Women of the Ton series, coming after Whisper of Scandal (MIRA), where we meet Lottie, the heroine of this book for the first time. She is different to typical romance heroines, she is selfish, money and society focused. However, Ethan is not the typical Hero. He is a Prisoner of war, in a small village in oxfordshire, after being captured whilst fighting for Napoleon, against the english. Their story is not the typical romance either. They first meet when Ethan visits the brothel Lottie has been reduced to working in, and hires her to become his mistress.

I really enjoyed this book. It was completely different to all other historical romances I've read. Instead of a relationship between two high up members of the ton, Lottie and Ethan are both outcasts, the ex-society-darling, and the traitor. And yet their story is also one of the sweetest and loveliest ones I have read. The ending had me on the edge of my seat with suspence, wondering would it be a happy ending, or a tragedy. One Wicked Sin really stood out for me, and I would recomend it to anyone, especially if you are looking for a historical romance a little bit different.

I purchased the first book in this Ton series and couldn't set it down. It is extremely enjoyable and you begin to feel through the series that you know all the family. Would recommend to everyone. Once you pick it up you will NEVER set it down until the end.

An utterly delightful book, which even on the third reading I find almost impossible to put down. For my money, the Scandals of the Ton series is a cut above Nicola Cornick's other books, and this is by far the best of them; witty, original, fast-paced, cliff-hangers galore and - perhaps alone of all her tales - a brilliant ending. One reviewer has described the hero as 'a bad boy to die for', and I couldn't have put it better myself. Ethan Ryder rules!

Perhaps the characters were well matched but they weren't particularly pleasant-no blushing debutante but an unhappily divorced woman who becomes a prostitute to survive matched with an Earl who uses her as a romantic diversion from his other (possibly treasonous) activities. I usually like Nicola Cornick's books but not so keen on this one.

Keeps you interested from page one. Great story lines, and develops your interest in all of the characters. Then you want to read more. Now getting stuck into number six.
Can't put down reading.
Good for readers who want a bit more than romance.
