What makes a woman join the most secretive and dangerous unit of Special Forces? What keeps her there? How does she cope with the rigorous physical and psychological training, including ‘simulated terrorist interrogations’, the often deadly missions, the relentless pressures of a macho world, and hte sex?
One Up (the military term for someone travelling solo on a surveillance mission) is the electrifying first-person account of an exceptional young woman’s experiences of action and adventure - the first book ever written by a female member of an SAS unit.

Fascinating - good read,
By A Customer
This review is from: One Up: A Woman in Action with the SAS: A Woman in the SAS (Paperback)
I thoroughly enoyed this book. It makes an interesting read with regard to the training, and operations of the 14th Det and the added slant of a female being accepted in to a mainly male environment. The insight into Sarah's own life and the ups/downs of personal and professional are absorbing. It's not all glamour and big guns and she conveys that in this book. All in all, no matter who you "support" or believe it's hard not to be impressed by the determination and spirit these people have. I'd agree that at times the personal stuff outweighs the rest but only in places and it didn't detract overall from what is an enjoyable read. If you like SAS books and aren't too sure about 14th Det - this book will still grab you.

right from the very start,it grabs your attention by the throat and you are unable to put this book down. it really is a warts and all account of sarah's life at the 'sharp end'. i can't reccomend this book highly enough. read it and be better informed, don't have nightmares......

Babe Sarah,
By A Customer
This review is from: One Up: A Woman in Action with the SAS: A Woman in the SAS (Paperback)
An excellent book about 14 Int even if the author follows the usual theoretical model for such books (chapter 1, my difficult childhood, chapter 2 basic training, chapter 3 why i dislike officers who are all a bunch of ruperts anyway etc etc)But anyway a very enjoyable read, and she looks like a bit of a babe if anyone has her phone number can I have it?
