From Amazon.co.uk

The third season of the small town soap begins with the blaze that ended the second ("Like You Like an Arsonist"). Dan (played by Paul Johannson) makes it out alive, but vows to seek vengeance on the perpetrator -- even if that person happens to be estranged son Lucas (Chad Michael Murray). In the following episode ("From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea"), Dan's preferred offspring returns to Tree Hill. Will Nathan (James Lafferty) and his wife Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) reconcile? It is her deepest desire, but Nathan has his doubts. Further changes are afoot. Haley and Brooke (Sophia Bush), for instance, move in together...which wouldn't seem so strange if they were in college rather than high school. Brooke and Lucas also try a "non-exclusive" arrangement (her idea, not his). When sexy schemer Rachel (Danneel Harris) joins the cheerleading squad, Brooke starts to regret her decision. Meanwhile, the delightfully odious Dan runs for mayor. Just when he thinks he's got it locked, Lucas’s mother, Karen (Moira Kelly), throws her hat in the ring. But those developments are minor compared to the school shooting in episode 16 ("With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept").

Guest stars include Nada Surf ("Return of the Future") and season two favourites Fall Out Boy ("An Attempt to Tip the Scales"), while recurring characters include Peyton's birth mother Ellie (Sheryl Lee, who was Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks), and smug singer/songwriter Chris (Tyler Hilton, who plays Elvis Presley in Walk The Line), with whom Haley collaborates again. As in the previous year, the finale ("The Show Must Go On") is a cliffhanger. Special features include commentary, deleted scenes, and a featurette about the making of "With Tired Eyes." --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Product Description

The complete third season of the popular US drama series. In this season, Tree Hill is rocked by powerful new events. Haley (Bethany Joy Galeoti) fights to save her marriage, Peyton (Hilarie Burton) comes to terms with her birth mother, Brooke (Sophia Bush) creates a hot clothing line, and Keith (Craig Sheffer) comes home. Dan (Paul Johansson) gets a rival for worst person in Tree Hill - a conniving redhead named Rachel (Danneel Harris), the new girl at school. Tragedy strikes Tree Hill High, and suddenly who wins the cheerleading tournament or basketball championship seems insignificant in comparison. Episodes comprise: 'Like You Like an Arsonist', 'From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea', 'First Day On a Brand New Planet', 'An Attempt to Tip The Scales', 'A Multitude of Casualties', 'Locked Hearts and Hand Grenades', 'Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends', 'The Worst Day Since Yesterday', 'How a Resurrection Really Feels', 'Brave New World', 'Return to the Future', 'I've Got Dreams to Remember', 'The Wind That Blew My Heart Away', 'All Tomorrow's Parties', 'Just Watch the Fireworks', 'With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept', 'Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them', 'When it isn't Like it Should Be', 'I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Bay and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me', 'Everyday is a Sunday Evening', 'Over the Hills and Far Away' and 'The Show Must Go On'.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE TO REMEMBER 31 July 2010
By Mr. D. L. Rees TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Dan survived the fire and vows revenge, his evil machinations again to dominate - including a bid to be mayor, can you believe!

Season 3 has disappointments - a few stories trite, a rather shallow newcomer creakingly stirring things up a bit. Not all the attempts at comedy work: some of the younger stars needing to know it involves more than speaking very quickly and waving arms around.

Fortunately the strengths dominate: much of the writing, most of the cast. There are welcome returns of favourite characters, moving portrayals of teenagers trying to adapt to new circumstances: Lucas keeping secret his heart condition; Peyton out of the blue confronted by her biological mother; the marriage of Nathan and Haley in disarray. Outstanding (again) are Barry Corbin as Coach and Lee Norris as Mouth - spellbinders both, dominating the screen whenever they appear.

As for Episode 16...! Here an already fine series attains new heights - at the High School, sudden horror. Although mirroring similar real life tragedies, sensationalism is avoided - a heartrending issue sensitively handled and provoking much thought. Cast and crew were deeply affected during the making. Also powerful is the episode that follows, those who were involved trying to make sense of it all.

Despite occasional weaknesses (including unconvincing final cliffhangers), the season deserves its five stars. Although over fifty years older than the probable intended audience, I found much to applaud - not least the show's heart and integrity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Third Season 29 Nov 2009
By underthethumb VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
As with the two previous seasons, this one starts immediately after the end of the first with the fire at Dan's car dealership. It sees the kids entering the first half of their senior year at Tree Hill High School with the drama getting even better than before.

With this season, the show has really got into it's stride with the confidence of the actors within their roles and the writing really coming together to produce some outstanding television.

The box set contains all 22 episodes of the third season. As with the previous seasons there are plenty of extras including additional scenes on most episodes, commentaries on three episodes and a featurette on the making of an episode.

If you have enjoyed the first two seasons, then this is an essential purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Season 3 Synopsis 16 Sep 2006
Format:DVD
Season 3

Senior year. A time to grow up, to forget, to forgive, to dream, to learn to love all over again. People come together -- except Dan, consumed by anger as he tracks down whoever started the fire that almost took his life. Tree Hill is rocked by powerful new events -- the good, the bad and the catastrophic. The good: Haley fights to save her marriage, Peyton comes to terms with her birth mother, Brooke creates a hot clothing line, and Keith comes home. The bad: Dan gets a rival for worst person in Tree Hill -- a conniving redhead named Rachel, the new girl at school. The catastrophic: Tragedy strikes Tree Hill High, and suddenly who wins the cheerleading tournament or basketball championship seems insignificant compared to who lives. And who doesn't.
