About the Artist

Dieter Meier, heir turned conceptual artist, joined Boris Blank to form the electronic synth group Yello in the late 1970s. Combining samples and beats with Meier's deep and distinctive voice, Yello became experts in combining the suave with the eclectic. 'One Second' was their 5th album, released in 1987. Highlights on the album are the B-side's opener 'The Rhythm Divine' which features Shirley Bassey on vocals, and 'Goldrush' which had a marvelous video that got heavy rotation on the music television networks. This is the first reissue of 'One Second' since its original release. To celebrate its re-release, it has been remastered and includes an exclusive bonus track: 'L'Hôtel'. Also available by Yello on vinyl: 'Flag'

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice to re visit Yello again 28 Feb 2006
Format:Audio CD
All the remastered series is worth listening to, if you have no Yello albums. You should start now. I had a few singles from years ago but no albums saw this and ordered all six discs; the fist two albums are more experimental. But the other four are great, the extra tracks makes it a must buy. Shame Amazon didn’t have access to the box set.
Some classic tracks and some that still sound good today.
If you had thought about it just do it.
Well done boys for creating some of the best music your ears can enjoy !!!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good album, badly remastered... 14 Dec 2008
By ippudo
Format:Audio CD
If you're a fan of Billy Mackenzie, you may want to pick up this album, since it's virtually littered with his vocals and backing vocals. I don't have to tell you that the production rivals anything Trevor Horn or The Art Of Noise did at the time, the attention to detail is mind-boggling.

As previous reviewers have already pointed out, if you have the original CD version of this album, you may want to hold on to it and not make the mistake of buying this 2005 edition (the Mackenzie sung "Snowball" is available on "The Glamour Chase"). Everything sounds way too compressed and the volume is cranked up to the max, which results in some distorted passages. It beggars belief that Boris Blank should have been responsible for this mess.

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb. Typical Yello at their best 21 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is Yello doing what they do best. Deep vocals, electronic bip and bops and a depth that smacks you in the face. From the chill of "L'Hotel" to the electronic thrash guitars of "Si Senor The Hairy Grill", you'll love it. If you like "Oh yeah" and "The Race" (not on this album) then you'll like "one Second" a lot. Shirley Bassey even puts in a appearance on this album. Simply divine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rays review 28 May 2009
Format:Audio CD
Yello are quite an aquired taste. When I first heard their track " Oh Yeah " I thought OH YEAH. They are too underated unfortunately. Find a friend who's got a Yello cd & borrow it, you may like it. As for me, Yello are excellent

5.0 out of 5 stars propellerhead. Repeating history? 18 July 2007
Format:Audio CD
This album has one of their best tracks, The Rhythm Divine, with Tiger bay's finest, Shirley Bassey on vocals. This is a perfect 80's combo, right up there with Liza Minnelli and the Pet Shop Boys(looshing my mind),Barbra Streisand and the Bee Gees (woman in love)and The Art Of Noise featuring Thomas woodward jones (Kiss).

And in case you were wondering, No, i am not.

The album is worth a purchase for this song alone, although other tracks are bob on.
