More About the Author

Tina Macnaughton was born in Scotland and raised in the south of England where she still currently lives in Surrey with her husband and daughter. She began her illustration training when she drew every night in bed as a girl on a little chalk board until everything was blue, pink or yellow much to the frustration of her mother. Her parents' back garden was like a small woodland and with it came lots of wildlife and so she was always chasing something or examining some creepy crawly much to the horror of her family. When she was asked by teachers and other kids if she was going to be an artist when she grew up, her reply was usually 'No way, I am going to be a vet!' To the relief of many animals it dawned on Tina that she was much better at drawing animals than examining them. After university she worked as a graphic designer for a few years until she decided to chase the dream of being a children's book illustrator.

She went freelance in 2002 (till the present) and has been published in 24 countries, from South Korea to Brazil, and translated into 22 different languages including ones from her family roots of Scottish Gaelic and Danish. She is best known for the 'Little Hedgehog' series of 8 books (and counting) the first being 'One Snowy Night', written by M. Christina Butler and published by Little Tiger Press.

GORGEOUS book! 27 Aug. 2012
By BostonMama - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I had never heard of this series, so if I had not run across it at a books-and-mortar bookstore, I would not have thought to buy it. But, it caught my eye one day, and I leafed through it, mesmerized. The illustrations are brilliant, beautiful, and bright. The "shimmery shiny" umbrella just adds enough something to make every illustration jump off the page. You just want to crawl into the pictures in this book and take refuge from the rain with Little Hedgehog. The story is completely engaging, and my 3 year old loves it, every time. We will be getting the other books in this series, but note: Why is there no autumn version? Would love to see one!

On Rainy Day 15 July 2011
By Steven C. Thedford - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The Hedgehog, a character with a palpable personality that you will love, is a beacon of light throughout the story. For example, even though it is raining, he can't wait to wear his new boots. Moreover, he enjoys playing with his gear in the storm, but Mole struggles with the spate of water and wind. In fact, his house has been blown away and he ask Hedgehog to help him find another home. Yet, the author never solves this problem in my opinion-all the animals in the story find refuge at Badger's house. Overall, the setting and description of the story enhances the book, but author did not tie up all loose ends.

My 4 year old loves this story... 8 Feb. 2012
By mom of 3 boys - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
My son borrowed this from his Pre-K school library 3 weeks in a row! He's usually excited to borrow different books each week, but this one keeps coming home so he can read it over and over. He's never done this with any other book, so there's something about it that he really enjoys.

Little Hedgehog needs to be squeezed! These stories always show his ever sweet nature and adorable friends. We love the special paper and texture that is added to the book itself to enhance the adventure in the story! We hope these lovely stories continue to come in the future!
Such a cute story! 24 July 2012
By Kaipea - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book is so cute and endearing. Little Hedgehog is so happy and positive. I think book teaches great values, like helping others less fortunate and maintaining a positive attitude. The illustrations are bright and engaging. My 2 year old LOVES this story and I can't wait to get more of Ms. Butler's stories to add to my daughter's library! If you're on the fence, go for it. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
