I love One Piece dearly, as much as the next fan does. I was pre-ordered this for my 21st Birthday last week and was ecstatic for it.
I completed the game two days ago and I have never been so confused, disappointed, and let down before. After you defeat the final boss in the main story-mode and let the credits roll you are greeted by an advert of the second part of Unlimited Cruise... an advert, in a game. My heart broke a lot. "Where is the second part? How do I play it?" I thought.
After extensive Google searching, I found out that only the Japanese version of "Unlimited Cruise Special" has both Part I and Part II games. It doesn't even say on the box "Part II not included" or anything of the like.
In a way, I feel that I cannot blame Namco because localisations (translations of all the EU languages) can be expensive and take up a lot of memory.. but what exactly is 'special' about this edition? Not much - there are aesthetics, being the mass-produced Ace mini-figurine, plus two extra characters you can play as in Versus mode.
The game itself lags often (not a great big deal, but just thought I'd let you know), and some of the camera views are horrible; constantly pushing up walls or at a bad angle, not to mention the jumping in this game is a bit far off; jumping platform to platform is pretty tricky because for some reason sometimes the character just can't make the edge of the other side, and then they fall to their deaths. A lot. Frustrating.
You can't even set-up a Nintendo 3DS link to play Vs. with another 3DS player. What is up with that? I would have thought that would be a grand feature, apparently nobody at Namco did.
It's a shame because I actually thoroughly enjoyed playing the game - I have not played the Wii versions before.
I'm a One Piece lover, and this game has hurt my love. I won't be surprised if they want us to buy the second part of the game when/if it comes out. I think they will.
So in conclusion, if you have both, or even the first part of 'One Piece: Unlimited Adventure' for the Wii, do not buy this game.
If you're looking for a game bargain saver and hoped this would have both parts of Unlimited Aventures, buy the Wii versions instead (I read that they released a double pack in Germany which contains both games; citation here:[...]
