A dirty, swaggering, filthy beast of a song, 'One Night' must be one of the rawest and raunchiest tracks Elvis ever laid down. The mangled grammar of "I ain't never did no wrong" is thrillingly trangressive and adds to the illicit atmosphere. Elvis deliberately restrains his vocal in the early part of the song, only adding to the impact when he cuts loose on the truly climactic "Been too lonely too long!" No-one is left in any doubt as to what Elvis is panting after. A key track in rock'n'roll history.
