I have always been a big Nancy Sinatra fan and was very anxious to hear this album when it came out a few years ago. Needless to say, I was pleased and not pleased. "Crocodile Tears","Right Track, Wrong Train", "Are You On the Road To Loving Me Again" are a few that really ARE vintage Nancy, but some of the others, "For Me It's You", "One More For the Road" just don't cut it. "The Devil In Disguise" is just AWFUL. She is off key and frankly is too old to be singing these types of songs. (Kind of like "California Man" off her her California Girl album.) Again, I am a huge Nancy fan, but this album left me cold.

Nancy's "comeback" CD, the first recorded in over twenty years, is certainly one to grab your attention, if not for the cover alone! Always one to have the one step away from "Playboy" artwork on her albums, (she also posed for Playboy in 1995 looking every bit the sexy and beautiful woman she is)you will not be disappointed by the purchase of this CD. The title song which appeared on an earlier album has been revamped and fits in nicely with the mix that follows. Although not my favorite on the CD, it holds its own. Nancy's voice is still the mix of little girl, bad girl, I'm comin' after you, I am woman hear me roar...more of a purr in this case. The "kittenish" tones are welcome to ones ears and the timing and delivery of the words she "bites" is pure Nancy. There is only one thing wrong with One More Time...Once is NOT enough!

This 1995 album was Nancy Sintra's "comeback" album. She hadn't made an album in about 20 years prior to this. For her big comeback, she made a country album. Most of the material is original songs written by Nashville songwriters. Songs were selected that were consistent with her persona from her '60s albums; that is to say, the tough but vulnerable chick. Some of the songs are better than others. Some of them, like "Now I Have Everything" and "Right Track, Wrong Train", are on a par with her '60s material. Others, like "One More Time", don't work well at all. Not all the songs are original, though. Nancy does a countrified take on her father's classic song "One For My Baby". This song doesn't really work as a country song, and Nancy doesn't really sing this type of song as well as her father did. The album closes with a cover of The Moody Blues song "Nights in White Satin". This one is not done in a country style, although that might have been interesting. Instead, it sticks fairly close to the original arrangement. I never really cared much for this song, and I'm not sure why Nancy chose to record it. Nancy's comeback wasn't as successful as she or her fans might have hoped for, but you have to give her credit for trying.
