Here's a turn up for the book - a horror sequel that's better than the original! And the first movie was directed by horror maestro Takashi Miike. One of the reasons is that the 'Ring'-like setup of the forewarned death by mobile (as opposed to video) is done away with in the first ten minutes and then neglected for most of the rest of its running time. It's a proper scary movie too - a good old fashioned ghost story. There's actually very few deaths in the movie (the killing of a mjor charcter even happens off-screen) with the scares set-up through the general uease of the situations. The movie also takes place for a long period of its running time in Taiwan - which makes a difference from Japan and Korea. It's a love story too - and a very convincing one at that. The standard of acting is waaaayyyyyy above the norm and characters are interesting and individual. You will root for the people in this movie!!!! A genuine surprise, anyone a fan of Ring 2 or The Eye (it's similar to and a mxture of both) would do well to give this a go.

I love Asian horror films and this one is not bad for a sequel - and we all know how hit and miss they can be! This one manages to carry it off though and whilst not perfect, is not too wide off the mark.

The first film was rather confusing too, but in a good way. This one just makes no sense at all and will have you scratching your head whilst scouring Wikipedia and IMDB trying to find answers as to what the hell was going on. There are a few good moments here and there, but many of them just seem like rehashes of several scenes from the original, some of which are unintentially funny in this sequel. A dissapointment then, when all's said and done because this was just a quick and easy cash-in sequel.

Really enjoyed this movie. Would recommend it especially if you have seem the first one. This is far superior to anything the american remakes can do. Very atmospheric and scary.
