I don't usually enjoy this kind of book (loosely described as 'self-help') but this one makes me laugh and makes me cry.
Having only recently discovered this brilliantly amusing and unconventional writer, I am now devouring every work of his I can get my hands on. Simon Parke was a priest in the Church of England for 20 years, then spent three years working in a supermarket, and now writes full-time.
His books give a fresh slant to everything: religion, love, working and being an author, therapist and speaker. He has preached in St Paul's cathedral: one observer wrote that 'you don't sleep in Simon Parke's sermons'!.
These books range from the hilarious to the tear-jerking (sometimes almost in the same sentence). I like books that move you to tears; it does show that they are 'getting' to you.
Simon's outspoken views on love and sex makes this (and all his books) a riveting read.
