Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

On One in a Million, Aaliyah expands on the smooth grooves of her massively successful debut album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. The production and songwriting talents of Tim "Timbaland" Mosley and rapper Missy Elliott give the songs on One in a Million a seductive edge with laidback grooves and cool hip-hop licks; but what really makes this album is the full-grown singer at the controls. On the title track, a magical ballad, Aaliyah casts a cool spell with layered voices and a smokey delivery. With the assistance of Slick Rick Rick, she turns Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up" into a funky hip-hop jam for the end of the millennium. While with "4 Page Letter," one of the album's high points, she intricately details the end of a love affair. Artists twice her age could only hope to create a work of such clarity and resonance. --Aidin Vaziri

this is my 1st album from Aaliyah and i have enjoyed it hellva lot! this album is a slow album but her silky smooth voice really pulls it off. my personal favourite are 4 page letter (a classic no doubt) and If Your Girl Only Knew. a brillant start to the album, with Hot like Fire, which carries on through the tracks. defiently something to listen to on a sunday evening when you are just relaxing and remembering all those past loves!

yeh. okay, so lee lee's had loads of albums out since this one and passed away three years on August 25th.
However, i recently moved house and during transit my Aaliyah album snapped, so i went all out and bought a new one.
This album is sick if you like the thick and heavy old skool beats, coz i was a fan of it then and still am now. Aaliyah showcases her voice in many ways especially with 'the one i gave my heart to' as well as the more well known tunes which always have me shaking my rump, like 'if your girl only knew', hot like fire and the 'one in a million'.
enjoy!!!!

Genius! 12 Dec 2003
Format:Audio CD
It annoys me that people think that Aaliyah gets all her fame due to her demise. This is NOT true. The reason why Aaliyah has got more recognition posthumously is because most people have actually realised that she had a lot of talent. I dont not fall into that catergory i have had the One In A Million album since its release in 1996 and have had to buy 2 copies because i played the first one so many times it got ruined. As you can tell i have enjoyed this album very much. It is one of those albums that is ahead of its time. With futuristics sounds from a goddess of mystery, Aaliyah proves she "Came To Give Love". the song that i can never get enough of is "If Your Girl Only Knew" this song, with its threatening bass line and Aaliyah's sturdy vocals is really anthemic.
