I have always taken album reviews with a pinch of salt and going by the previous reviewer that is why! I personally think this is a solid album, more of the same great melodies and vocals which made the first album a blinder. I hope this band go on to get the credit they deserve.

When I first heard Hope Street, it took me a few listens to get into the album. Once I had listened a good 4 or 5 times, the melodies took a hold and became one of my most uplifting and tuneful albums I own. One Man Army is exactly the same, does take a few listens to get used to it but once youve heard it enough you instantly recognise the bands talent and writing ability to give it a huge thumbs up. I'll certainly be playing this one for a long time. long may the bands success continue.

Kassidy - Crosby, Stills, Martin and Mumford, 3 May 2012

This review is from: One Man Army (Audio CD)
Having once held high hopes for this bunch of hairy Scottish troubadours despite warnings from all quarters it is sad to report that Kassidy's choice of the title "One Man Army" must be because all the other troops have deserted to somewhere far more interesting. This album is so safe you should let it guard the Olympic village. Yes the production is very polished, the songs tip a passing nod to other bands not least Coldplay and Mumford and Sons but it leaves the listener colder than watching the whole of David Attenborough's "Frozen Planet" in one sitting. Titles like "I can't fly" are ironically accurate since this sub Stereophonics track barely gets off the airport runway. Equally "Get By" seems to nick some chords from Elbow "Grounds for Divorce' and combine it with Kasabian. It sounds a bloody daft idea in theory and unsurprisingly the practice confirms it. A few years back NME did a scathing review of their debut "Hope Street" where this reviewer was outraged, but time confirms they had a point. As a band Kassidy certainly are decent musicians, they can write a rousing song (albeit you wish they would locate their inspiration nearer to the West Coast of Scotland than California) and they could improve over time. That said in the immortal advice of the teacher on a school report "they need to concentrate and work harder". This album is so bland they should remove the colour red from the cover and paint it beige.

Great opening track.

Love Kassidby's work. Would love to see them live. Brilliant First Album and this one just has the edge on the first.

I have bought so many "2nd albums" from bands over the years, which have been disappointing. Bands obviously put so much effort into their first album with all the songs that got them noticed in the first place and songs with which they may have toured for 2-3 years. And Kassidy's first album, Hope St, is one of my favourite albums of the past few years so I was hoping that this would not be a disappointment. And I'm pleased to say it wasn't.

It might not be as instant as the first album, but the same driving guitar sound continues throughout the album, and there are some great tunes, with some distinctive sing-a-long choruses. If you like the first album, you'll love this. If you haven't heard Kassidy before, I'd probably still suggest Hope St because it will draw you in on first listen. And folks, if you have never seen them live, you need to put that right. They still do small venues - saw them recently in a pub in Islington and they were brilliant - as well as festivals (Rockness in June 2012). I guarantee you will enjoy their energy on stage and the create a great live atmosphere

Well what a beautiful follow on from Hope St. One Man Army is composed beautifully with every song sounding raw. At least 6 single potentials and if not haunting, then the songs are very catchy. I think the sound is mature and I love how all 4 boys take lead vocals at least once. True song-writing talent is obvious and it could be described as an album for various tastes. It will be playing in my car all summer! A sure recommendation for those who still appreciate good music and raw vocals. The song 'Afterburn' is a treat for the ears! (hidden track)

This album is excellent, the song Home independently makes it worthy of your money, easily. With their genius harmonies and emotive powerful playing, Kassidy will pull you on a journey that only a Scottish band could. The rugged vocals on One Man Army, its thumping bass and moving instrumental interlude make you wonder why on earth this band aren't more mainstream. Afterburn is another gut-wrencher, with Maybe I'll Find and Driven By Fools also memorable. In fact, most songs on this album are very good - if not better.
Exceeding the high standard set by their previous album, this band are growing in the right direction.
