Product Description

Sir Alasdair MacLachlan is a dashing man-about-town, too charming for his own good, and his rakish behavior towards women have gained him a notorious reputation. But Sir Alasdair's cavalier past is about to catch up with him when a beautiful stranger arrives on his doorstep with a basket full of surprises. Miss Esme Hamilton is a gentlewoman tossed out of the home and life she knew in Scotland by a vindictive stepfather. With her infant sister Sorcha in tow, Esme makes her way to London by her wits and her tenacity, and calls on the man she holds responsible for their plight. Sir Alasdair MacLachlan, she is confident, has committed more than a few sins. But Esme vows that Sorcha is one he won't walk away from.

About the Author

During her frequent travels through England, Liz Carlyle always packs her pearls, her dancing slippers, and her whalebone corset, confident in the belief that eventually she will receive an invitation to a ball. Alas, none has (as of yet) been forthcoming.

Liz Carlyle has done it again!Another winner. One little sin surprises you until the end!Just couldnt put it down.

Alasdair Maclachlan is a loveable scoundral who has never really had to take responsibility for his actions until he meets Esmee Hamilton the heroine.Young innocent Esmee with a lot of spunk and a Scottish temper is exactly what Alasdair needs to become a caring thoughtful individual. He takes on the resposibility of becoming guardian and father to baby Sorcha when Esmee turns up with her baby sister on his doorstep.

Intrigued? How is this possible?

To complicate matters he falls in love with Esmme passionately and yet for the first time in his life he executes control as he feels he must do the right thing by his "daughter" and Esmee herself-thus we see the progressive transformation of a man who was extremely selfish and debauched becoming sensitive ,conscious of others and responsible.

Esmee with all her innocence is extremely attracted to her mothers -ex lover and sister's "father" and just cant contol her passion for him. confused?

Dont be ,because Liz Carlyle handles such scandalous issues so well and we see the truth unfolding with such sensitivity and emotion from the progression of events and characters that its conclusion is most satisfying, the lovers are together Sorcha is not Alasdairs daughter and we are intrigued and curious about the other secondary characters-mean brother Merrick MacLachlan and his friend Quin Wynwood-who end up being the hero's of the remaining two stories in the trilogy.

Another winner for Liz Carlyle. Reading her books is such a pleasure as she never fails to deliver.

I won't go into the story as it has already been done but just believe that you will not be disappointed if you continue with the series. I have the next two books just waiting to be devoured.

Buy it, and them.

Disappointing 12 April 2010
By Artist
Format:Paperback
The cover is lovely, the storyline interesting, the Prologue and first chapter good and then... it just goes downhill. Sir Alasdair in 'Devil to Pay' was charming and easy to love, but for some reason in 'One Little Sin' the initial shock of discovering that he has sired a daughter scrapes out all the charms out of his character. His serious disposition, his sudden change in attitude towards attentiveness, his ability to restrain his affections and passion towards Esmee are all very difficult to believe and make him very dull and tepid. His humour and candidness disappear and the plot drags and drags endlessly. The romance that blooms (What romance?) is so difficult to believe and hard to enjoy. Not Ms Carlyle's best in my opinion.
