Much has changed in the world of McFly since last October's Top 3 smash "The Heart Never Lies" and it's accompanying Top 5 greatest hits album. The main one being that Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry have followed in the footsteps of Paul McCartney, Prince, Madonna and Melanie C by executing a move most unheard of in a band of their ilk and ditching a big-bucks contract renewal with Universal Island in favour of the oppurtunity to release their music under their own label, Super Records.
As for the music and their new and 14th single, "One For The Radio"? Well, written as a sort of positive and slightly rebellious call to arms of their numerous fans and a with-us-or-against-us attitude to their detractors - "Don't pretend you hate us as you sing along, cos' we all look the same in the dark" - it takes their sound further down the stadium pop that they dabbled in on "Motion In The Ocean" but at the same time has the ballsy-ness to announce their return and ends up being their finest single to date since 2006 chart topper "Star Girl". Hopefully a good indication of what'll be on their new album "Radio:ACTIVE", which is out free in the Mail on Sunday on July 20th before a full scale release on September 8th.
