From Amazon.co.uk

A film based on the incredibly popular Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich, One for the Money reveals an unexpectedly versatile Katherine Heigl. This model-turned-actress is best known for her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy and for starring in various lighthearted romantic comedies, but here Heigl takes on the meaty role of Plum, a laid-off lingerie buyer who turns bondswoman in a desperate attempt to pay the rent and put food on the table. Heigl is surprisingly believable as a blue-collar working girl who thinks fast on her feet and is not afraid to throw herself into the middle of even the most dangerous situation--especially if it means getting what she wants. Of course, Stephanie's impulsiveness manages to get her into all sorts of awkward and potentially life-threatening situations. Throw in her desire for payback against an old boyfriend, a sleazy cousin, a gang of ruthless criminals, a couple of most unexpected allies, and a quirky family who can think of little more than setting her up with a good husband, and you've got an enticing blend of drama, action, and comedy. Debbie Reynolds is quite funny as Grandma Mazur, Daniel Sunjata makes a great Ranger, and there's definitely a nice chemistry between Heigl and Jason O'Mara. --Tami Horiuchi

Product Description

A proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum’s (Katherine Heigl) got plenty of attitude, even if she’s been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector. Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company … as a recovery agent. True, she doesn’t even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn’t stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny’s biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli--the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school.

Nabbing Morelli would be satisfying payback--and a hefty payday--but as Stephanie learns the ins and outs of becoming a recovery agent from Ranger, a hunky colleague who’s the best in the business, she also realises the case against Morelli isn’t airtight. Add to the mix her meddling family, a potentially homicidal boxer, witnesses who keep dying and the problem of all those flying sparks when she finds Morelli himself … well, suddenly Stephanie’s new job isn’t nearly as easy as she thought.

4.0 out of 5 stars One for the girls 16 April 2012
By PJ Rankine TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
Charming and lighthearted this is one for the boys too. Katherine Heigl is perfectly cast as Stephanie Plum, a New Jersy divorcee who loses her job and her car and seeks a new career with her cousin Vinnie. Vinnie however is a bail bondsman and her new job is as a bounty hunter chasing bail jumpers. She takes on the workload of an experienced hunter who is off sick and finds his plum case is a former love interest of hers played by Jason O'Mara. Heigl in this girl next door type role is far more attractive than her IMDB mugshot suggests and she plays the role with charm and humour. This film won't make you laugh out loud or gasp with excitement but it is a very entertaining 90 minutes which you won't regret spending.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bounty Hunter 14 July 2012

This was a fun film and entertained us on a cold and wet evening. As usual Katherine was fun and made the film light hearted if a bit unbelievable. The sort of film to watch again.

Unfortunately this film seems to have received a lot of bad reviews/press, I honestly can't figure out why as it's funny, smart and follows the book as far as is possible when transferring from Book to Film, but they have even gone into detail of showing Stephanie's favourite Pizza Restaurant Pino's in her phone when scrolling through, and of course you get to see Rex the hamster!
I've been a fan of the Stephanie Plum books for many years and was equally excited/apprehensive when I heard a film was coming out as you never know how it will transfer, I left the cinema happy and can't wait to see the film again which is why I pre-ordered it as soon as I was able to on Amazon!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun....
If you read the book - then the film does not ruin your illusions. It stuck to the story well - although Ranger was not how I pictured him !

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but not as good as the book
An entertaining film that lacks some of the suspense of the book. I would have liked to see a stronger chemistry between Plum and Morelli but guess they were going for the 12... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars what a let down
Nowhere near as good as the books. There is a whole series of them, this title being the first. The grandma character was totally miscast, really spoilt it for me.
