This "limited edition" package comes with One For All's URC7960 SmartControl remote and a wireless adapter for PS3. The remote works fine, but its build quality can't hold a candle to even the cheapest Logitech Harmony. The keys feel spongy, as does the underside, and while it may look quite nice, it feels cheap and insubstantial in your hand.
The use/arrangement/lighting of keys are questionable too. When it comes to device selection, rather than having 6 keys requiring one button press to select the device you want, the remote has a left and a right key, often requiring 3-4 presses before you reach the right device. Some keys are placed in ways that make no sense, such as having a return key sandwiched between the channel up and channel down keys, and a next input/function key - one of the most important keys on any remote - that's mystifying placed at the very bottom and labelled AV/Clear.
In terms of backlighting, only the central ring and device/activity indicators light up when activitated, while the central ring flashes whenever any key is pressed, something that quickly becomes irritating since it serves no real purpose. However, there is one very good thing about the remote: it doesn't require connection to a computer in order to program it.
The real attraction of the package - or at least it should have been - is the PS3 adapter. This adapter is black (not silver as often shown in pictures) and runs on 2 (unsupplied) AA batteries. The adapter works, but not perfectly, and certainly not as well as Logitech's Harmony Adapter for PS3. All too often key presses result in a noticeable delay; either that or they're missed altogether. I tried several different scenarios: changing the position of the adapter, changing the proximity of the remote, even moving the PS3 itself, but the result was always the same, pointing to an issue inherent within the adapter.
For the price, many will probably be willing to overlook the deficiencies of these devices, but if you're looking for a remote to use with a PS3 a lot then this isn't the product to choose. The delayed/missed key presses are just too much to take. I give the product 2.5 stars, since it does work - it just depends how well you need it to work.
