Complete collection of the fourth series. Richard Wilson plays the rambling suburban philosopher Victor Meldrew, who, with melancholic ease, rages against his friends, neighbours and life. Annette Crosbie plays his long suffering wife, Margaret. Episodes are: 'The Pit and the Pendulum', 'Descent Into the Maelstrom', 'Hearts of Darkness', 'Warm Champagne', 'The Trial' and 'Secret of the Seven Sorcerers'.

Product Description

Richard Wilson plays Victor Meldrew, a maggoty senior citizen who always provokes people into taking extreme action against him. His neighbour - Angus (Have I Got News For You, KYTV) Deayton - wages unofficial war against him, while long-suffering wives (Annette Crosbie and Janine Duvitski) look on askance. Winner of 11 awards including 3 BAFTAs.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best sitcom ever! 26 April 2006
Verified Purchase
I thought "The Simpsons" DVD releases were slow, but this is taking an age to come out properly on DVD. A fantastic show, with exceptional writing and some of the best comic timing and farcial elements any modern sitcom writer would die for. I got into this show a few years ago and would recommend it highly, as this is the series when it really took off, starting with the excellent "Pit and the Pendulum" which is my favourite episode in the whole show,(bar the christmas special "Wisdom of the Witch", which is even better) and I urge you to contact the BBC and get series 5 and 6 released asap! "In the name of all that's holy", buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this series! 30 May 2006
After waiting endlessly for this series to be released in region one, I gave up, bought a cheap multi-region player and started buying it from the UK. Haven't regreted it a bit. If anything, it's more wickedly funny than it was when I saw it the first time. I'm so delighted to finally have series one through four on dvd (not to mention the Christmas specials that I've never seen before), so hope the powers that be hurry up and get season five and six out asap. I also love that they've added at least one commentary on the last two dvd's and wouldn't mind having it on more episodes.

I'm a big fan of One Foot in the Grave and what a price and service from the sellers. This is very good. My wife and I are so pleased, although she calls me Victor. Can't quite understand why!

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Classic 4 May 2010

For me, this Xmas special is a True Classic and the DVD has the bonus of containing the rest of the season's shows. If you want an example of Victor Meldrew at his grumpiest & mayhem generating best - look no further! You will watch this more than once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius 30 Nov 2010

I actually only bought the set for "One Foot in the Algarve". Despite the fact that I had seen it before there were many hilarious bits that I had forgotten. My wife is no fan of One Foot but even she was laughing out loud. Great Stuff!

4.0 out of 5 stars A little dated, but still great
Still very enoyable after twenty years. Acting superb. The stories seem rather more far-fetched now than they did at first airing but they provide plenty of amusement. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A real good laugh
One Foot In The Grave was an excellent series. I thought One Foot In The Algarve, might not be as good, being a movie, but it was brilliant. Well done.
