This was the choice for my book club, and I was looking forward to reading it, because I've seen the great reviews on here, and it was part of the Top 100 books on the World Book Night website.
I am so disappointed with this book! It's complete rubbish, and I'm not going to finish it. I always try to finish a book no matter whether I'm enjoying it or not, but I can't concentrate at all, so it's waste to try.
I really don't like either of the main characters, so I couldn't care less about them, and whether they actually get together at the end or not. Dexter is the worst of the two (completely arrogant) and I found myself skipping his sections almost immediately. Then eventually I tired of Emma too
I don't find it funny either. I was a bit wary when I saw the Nick Hornby comment on the front of the book, as I didn't enjoy his book 'Juliet, Naked' either. This book is of similar comedy style to that.
I think I found it most difficult to get on with as it's so unbelievable. These two people really like each other, and tell each other so all of the time. So, they should have just got on with it on Page 1.
And, he got the name of the third Evil Dead film wrong!
I can't think of anyone I would recommend this book too. I don't think my 'chick -lit' friends would appreciate it, and the others probably wouldn't find the characters interesting enough either.
