4.0 out of 5 stars Top Ten at last 23 Aug 2012

For years now, Elbow held the dubious distinction of being 'band who have lonely ever reached No.19 on the singles chart but no higher.' Indeed this much loved anthem that gained popularity after featuring on numerous television trailers had only ever climbed as high as No.35 (and on two separate entries), causing blokes in pubs across the country discussing the subject to splutter out their beers and yell 'No.35?' and 'on TWO separate entries' in complete disbelief. But after performing the song at the Olympics closing ceremony (presumably because Coldplay had already agreed to appear at the para-para-paralympics), it has far eclipsed its original showing, meaning said blokes in pubs across the country discussing the subject can yell 'No.4?' then momentarily pause and gaze at each other, adding with a calm shrug of the shoulders: 'yeah, sounds about right.'
